Hey...
:)
I'm a Canadian student...just finished my B.Sc degree from a great Canadian school...but competition is pretty harsh for med school...

My question is what are some schools to apply to that are not as tough in admissions..(others than the caribbean)..I was hoping for somewhere in NY..my grades arent stellar...I've maintained 81% for the last two years and got a 29S on the MCATs...oooo and one other thing...I'd love to go to school with people of many different cultures (hmmm...i dont want to end up in central hickville!)...any suggestions???

Thnx :)

It is exceptionally hard to get into a med school in New York, the competition there is fierce. I really don't know any alternatives other than the Caribbean. You could always go for a masters degree and try from there?

You can try the Irish or European schools. Or you can try some of the New Engand schools in other US states. Also try many of the private medical schools. The state schools normally want you to be an in state resident. A 3.0 and a 29 MCAT is really not very competitve GPA and MCAT score for the top to middle tier US schools. The DO schools would be a better chance.

However, there are many smaller ones where you may have a slim chance. I would say with those scores you would be able to get in Ross, AUC, SGU or Saba with no issues. These are all good schools with other Canadians in them. You have zero chance if you don't apply.
