Does anyone know if AMCA, or anyone else for that matter, would look for or could find transcripts from a school that you don't want reported?

I am post-graduate taking a class that I don't want the grades to show up anywhere. I am taking the class at a different school than the one I graduated from. I've heard that many students do this so that it won't hurt their GPA. I was thinking of retaking the class at my home school and then when asked for transcripts for medical school applications, just not sending these transcripts in. I won't transfer these grades to my home school. How could or would anyone find these transcripts?

Thanks

Well, there is a national clearinghouse that consists of approximately 2000 colleges/univ. that many companies, schools utilize to verify creditionals. These schools subscribe to the clearinghouse and it eliminates the headache for them to verify degrees, etc. As far as your classes go, well, if you apply for Federal Financial Aid, it may come up and they can search it.....if you used Federal funds for this class and apply for aid, it will come up. If it's a carib. and doesn't have Federal Aid, you should be OK. I don't see most carib. schools finding out. They take your official transcripts, add up the hours, look for pre-req's etc. If it's just one class, why take the risk....even if you take it over, isn't it better to show you failed or did poorly, and thought it important enough to retake the class for a better grade? If you are close to graduating or have many hours, even two classes with poor grades shouldn't change your GPA that much! Again, I don't think anyone would find out....but is it worth being deceptive for one class? Good luck!!

Well they may not be able to find those transcripts for medical school but believe me on this one they will find them when you try to get residency and lic in the states. FVCS can find anything anywhere, shoot the U.S. should employ them to find Bin Laden, lololololol I hope I spelled that correctly.

When I was in college a number of students would take organic or physics at another school in the summer and if they did not do well they would take it at their own school in the fall. They certainly would not have it put on their home schools transcript. Since it is just one course you took I cant imagen not sending the transcript would be a problem ( I dont think it would be a problem if you took multile courses and did not want to send the transcripts). What if you attended hair dressing school and didnt want medcial schools to know this , would you have to send the transcript? I think not. Ask some college professors that you like and see what they say. Relax.

not reporting ALL of your grades is considered fraud and if youre found out, say good bye to your degree.

Thanks for the replies. I got the idea from the OChem professor who said just what JC said, that many students take the course in the summer as a freebie as they will take it in the fall for real. He said that it was a matter of finances - if you could afford it financially. It sure would be nice to re-take this and get an outstanding grade next time. I got one "B" already in the first quarter, and can not afford another "B" in the second quarter of OChem. It is very competitive as you all know.

I checked the national student clearinghouse website. None of the schools that I am getting grades from subscribe. Additionally, from their website's explanations, it seems very, very difficult for a school to search for unreported transcripts even if my schools did subscribe.

As far as degrees and state boards, I already have a degree. And it sounds a little crazy that a state board would not grant a license to practice or obtain an internship or that a medical school would revoke a degree because of an unreported "B" in one quarter of one prerequisite course that was re-taken. I was mainly concerned about getting into medical school and the AMCA finding out about a grade that I forgot to mention or otherwise was erroneously missing. From my professor and this forum, it sounds like it is not a big deal.

Please correct me if you think that I am wrong on this. I really appreciate all of the input. I really do. Thanks.
