what do you guys use to review individual subjects...for example i am finishing my first semester of med 1 and i want to review anatomy, histo and embryo using step one review books...what books would you guys suggest....

do the review books incorporate ideas from all three subjects or do they keep anatomy driven questions in a separate section....obviously since im only in med 1 i would not be able to do physio pathology or pharm questions so i want a book that will make sure that i have a good understand of anatomy, embryo, and histo...thanks...

for anatomy and histo, I did not like any review books that were out there.. so I got the anatomy coloring book and made my own review book; for histo, we would get our class and lab notes, and I would again make my own review book.

For example: for histology.. (I like to draw...)...
I would state the system that I was in, draw a pic (then I learnt how to 'google' a pic), characteristics, functions, location(s),...and so forth..

for anatomy, I would cut out the bone, muscle, artery, nerve, vein....or draw the pathway... would write the insertion/origin, function, location,... and so forth...

for embryology.. FA and step up are good... and I took the organization of step up (systematic approach).. and have 10 notebooks designated to each system with the embryology information to the pathology... Nervous system includes the behavior science. I integrated my notes and kaplan into FA and step up; then I found out about goljan... and am now integrating that into my notes....

In certain systems, I have integrated anatomy (GI, cardiac, respiratory, and renal) and in others, I have integrated histology (lymphoreticular and hematopoietic); it has helped me.. b/c i'm very visual and need repetition to help me to learn...;

My strategy and hope it helps you to find your strategy...Good luck in your studies!!!
