I am a 4th year undergrad student at UCLA, my gpa is around 2.8, i plan on taking the mcat in april, and i plan on applying without finishing my degree. Can anyone tell me what score would be desirable on the mcat, and what my overall chances are of getting admitted.

Thanks.

Currently, the mean GPA (undergraduate) of Ross's accepted student ranges from 2.8 to 3.4.... so you fall right in there. You can apply before you finish with your degree, but let them know that you will have your degree on so and so date. I suggest you finish your degree from UCLA as it will make a good impression on paper. They look at your overall application, including GPA, science GPA, volunteer work, motivation, interview, MCAT, etc. I dont know of any cut offs on the MCAT scores as it is required and will now be used for admission decision from Sept 2004 and onwards, but I would suggest a bare minimum of 7's or 8's on each section. Of course if you are weaker in other sections it would look better with higher scores.
Good Luck.

I would say 27 or better on the mcat, for schools that look at the MCAT scores. Personally, I think to be competitive (mcat only), you need a 30. The only reason I said 27 was because that's the lowest score I know with which someone got accepted to a school. But, it depends on the school in the end. Ross will start looking at mcat scores for their September class and onwards.

Good Luck!!!
