Hi there, I'm a newbie here, but have been considering foreign med school for some time now...

Just took April '06 MCAT, got : 10 VR, 8 PS, 8 Bio, P writing.. and undergrad GPA was 3.0 as a bio major...

But I attending law school in the states, and wasnt really into it and due to unforseen circumstances, missed the academic cutoff by .01 in GPA and was dismissed...

Now do i have to declare this to the med schools? Like on the apps they ask if ever been dismissed from any academic insitution, but what if i omit that fact, and just say i withdrew from law school instead?

I just feel like they will look down upon that event and I dont see how relevant it is since it was over 3 years ago....

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

I would not offer adverse information BUT if you are specifically asked if you were dismissed and you were but say no; you have submitted a fraudulent application and that can come back to haunt you big time in the future.
I know of a specific case where a fellow lost his license for failing to answer properly to the question, "Have you ever been arrested?" He answered NO because it was thrown out of court BUT he was arrested!

a huge part of medicine is character. if you lie youre not considered worthy of the career. if they find out, you'll get dinged in a big way and possible have charges brought against you for fraud. It's time to get out of the law school mentality of learning how to finesse things and time to put on manpants in anticipation of a medical career.
