Hey guys, my sister just got into med school. I went to med school and am in MS4, medical student-4th year. I always come on here but have never responded, I gave her some advice that I will share with you.

If you are thinking of going to med school, go!!!! dont second guess it, even if it is out of the country, you will thank yourself later. The schools in and out of the country are great, and med school in itself is a great experience. Get some great advice from people that are in their 3rd and 4th years. Do not let the negative opnions of one or two people hold you back.

Pre-Meds...Take some courses that you will encounter in med school. Biochem, micro, genetics, will help you if you have some back ground

Med students...get an early start on USMLE. you should be studying for it from day one. get your self some kaplan Usmle books, get the older versions (2005) to save money but start reading it while you are taking your courses in med school. I found that doing that helps to understand the material better. After two years when you are ready to take step1, you will be better prepared and when you start yoru clinicals you will not have forgot anything. ask an older student that you may know, a family member, or go to ebay and buy it...

I hope this helped...

Good idea, Jameslynton! I'm studying the BRS and Firstaid books now, even though I don't start until January.

It looks like we're in the same boat, I'm older as well. Have you been accepted anywhere yet?

I'll either be in Dominica or Saba, haven't decided... :p
