Hi,
I am searching for the best private loan out there. I did not like EdInvest because SGU is pushing me so hard to sign up with it and the rate seems "average".

Those of you who are borrowing money from other companies, please let me know what you think.

My credit/FICO score is pretty good, above 700, with no debt at this point.

As you all know, GradPlus loan is not approved by SGU yet. However, if that goes through, things will change a bit, I hope.

Oh, for those of you who are already borrowing money, did you know that the interest rate will jump in July??!! 4.7% to more than 7% for Stafford ! Might want to consolidate loans before then!

Thank you for your input!

I think the reason why SGU is pushing you to sign with EdInvest is because they probably do everything with them electronically so its is easier to check on your loans. I used to work at the financial aid office and we always preffered students to go with our lenders because that way money would be on time and if there was a problem we had our representatives in those companies so that all we had to do was get on the phone with them. While if the student did not chose a preferred lender he was rather expected to take care of the problems himself and check in with school , which actually might be hard to do from Grenada. It's up to you, I chose Ed-Invest because I contacted the loan lady I used to work for at fin aid at my undergrad college and she said they seemed reasonable and I can go with them. Buit it's different for everyone. I suggest you contact SGU fin aid and ask them if you chose your lender whether the money would be on time as it would be with EdInvest and if any problems came up with it would you be responsible to make sure your money comes in.
Also a suggestion, if you can, you should pay your unsub stafford interest rate while you are in school. i hope this helps.

I just received my financial aid packet and I dont know about you guys, but it doesnt seem like its going to be enough. I am taking my fiancee and since we're not married i cannot get dependent loans, which i understand. however, i dont even think that the loans i am borrowing will cover me solo. i have an apt already and i think i got a pretty good deal, 1 bedroom 1 bath, $775 ALL bills included. for those of you who are full funded SGU students, is this going to be enough to get by on?

My question is....does anyone know of any other private education loans that can be taken out WITHOUT the approval of the school. I understand that they will probably be at higher interest but I'd still like to look into them. A friend of mine who is in dental school in states, borrowed one from bankone. he said that all he had to do was prove that he was enrolled in school and they gave him a loan, no questions asked. i looked into this but since I am going to a foreign medical school, it wasnt listed on the schools to select from.

Anyhow, i just feel like i dont need the financial stress on top of being in medical school already. Id like to have some slack for ERs. Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
