Fam Med (which, I understand, has umbrella coverage of peds/ob-gyn, and IM?)

[1202531166] Genesys Regional Medical Center Program
Genesys Regional Medical Center
One Genesys Parkway
Grand Blanc, MI 48439

BTW, you can look up programs yourself (like I just did, in 30 seconds) at

http://www.acgme.org/adspublic/

to find out the real info - not rumors or stories. I clicked on "List of programs by sponsor" on the left pane, then selected Michigan, then found Genesys as the second program listed on the drop-down menu.

FP covers all cores, as far as i know: ob, peds, psych, surg and im. 4th yr rotations can be done through these programs also. it all depends on your evventual state of practice's rules...

If the hospital has aN ACGME Family Practice rotation many states will accept the other rotations in the hospital as Greenbook rotations but for states like PA which require ACGME rotations only the FP rotation would count. Basically you couldn't obtain a licence in Pennsylvania.

How do you find out exactly which states will allow the rotations under the umbrella and which ones are like PA and will not. I am mainly interested in TN.

Thanks

i believe that you will just have to go to each state's licensing page and read through all the licensing info. Nevada doesnt care about blue/green, i just talked to them yesterday, and i know that Fl, Cali both use the umbrella.

best way is to google the state medical licensing board and contact them directly if the online info is unclear. the state of maine got back to me right away by email. remember only a few states are annoying and most are happy to welcome you to practice there--especially if they have a perceived shortage of docs (ie, Maine). good luck!

Hi bhs2a,

Please visit http://www.state.tn.us/sos/rules/0880/0880.htm and download the PDF regarding rules and regulations for physician licensure.

You shall find all of your answers in regards to what TN requires. If still more questions, call them and they shall get back to you promptly.

so does anyone know what states don't recognize the umbrella besides PA?

Texas doesn't. Probably the toughest state, hands down.
