personally, i would put it in your bank account. DONT send a deposit on antything site-onseen in Dominica. dont worry, there is plenty fo housing there. wait until you get there, come a few days early, and look around.

I know that forum members used to warn users to NOT send money to the rock to reserve housing sight unseen. I also know that there has been a push on the part of Ross over the past few semesters to reserve housing in advance. Can any of the past few semester students that have done this please elaborate. If you get there and have reserved apartment ABC, and then you get there and find that ABC is a dive, do they cheerfully refund your money? Or if you get there and find that Apartment XYZ is tons better and change you mind to live in XYZ instead of ABC, do they agree to applying your original deposit to XYZ with no penalty? Before we offer advice, we need an updated version of how things are now.

I had intended to reserve a spot at Avie's ville.

yes, my info is not up to date. avies villa was nice back in 2000. i dont know how their management is, maintenance, etc, as i didnt live there. I know the reason why we used to always say to not send money was because it used to be that your deposit tended to disappear. you showed up, and they said "what money?". hopefully, things have changed in that area.

That must have been a wonderful 'welcome to Ross' moment for some students...lol
