I was wondering if I should hire a lawyer to investigate why I have been denied acceptance at Sackler. Do you guys think it is a good idea?

My application is good. I have 29Q MCAT, 3.70 GPA, two types of biology research in college, graduated with honors, volunteered at 3 hospitals, shadowed a doctor for several years, led student organizations at my university, graduated a full year early and worked in a major pharmaceutical company, and more. Yet, they flat out rejected me and refuse to advise me on how to improve my application. No waitlist, nothing.

I interviewed in April and received a rejection letter last week. My interviewer was shocked because she gave me a good review. This is beyond unfair.

If you have been accepted into Sackler can you please tell me your application details. Maybe I am not as hot as I think I am. I hope I'm not because this is so unfair that I have been rejected. I know for sure that Sackler has let in kids who get in their mid 20s on their MCAT. That's a joke. It really is.

reason why you got denied

1) they felt you will not adapt with a population of 80% jew.
2) you worked at a pharmasuetical company, your already a capatilst, sackler is all about socailism.
3) the organization you ruled in university wore anti-sematic, or even not help full for acadamic or even health issues.

now just to piss you off even more, my brother just today , got into sackler with a 2.7 and MCAT of 24S and no clinical or anytype of exprience.

good luck bud, ty again next year. and remember you cant be a threat

Maybe you had bad reccomendations! I know of people with 3.8 GPA and 35 MCAT that didn't get into any school in the states. Perhaps it was something else in your application?
About them not wanting to advise you on how to improve your application, it depends on who you spoke to.

Actually, there is nothing anti-Semitic about me and especially considering that I am soon going to convert to Judaism.

My recommendations were quite good from the feedback I got in U.S. schools. In addition, I speak 5 languages and have lived in three different countries (all of which are historically peaceful for Jews - India, Canada, and U.S.).

Anyone else got any ideas?

Wow, I tried calling the NY Office for Sackler and man, there is one guy there who is rude and just plain hurtful. I'm going to get nowhere with this. It's bull that kids with MCAT scores that aren't good enough to mop floors at U.S. medical schools get accepted into Sackler and I don't. What the heck....

Did you tell them that you want to live and practice medicine in Israel. Well if you did that's why you got rejected. I know a guy with a higher MCAT score than you (33) and got flat out rejected bec. he told them he wants to live in Israel. You see they have this program not bec. they are interested in the Americans but rather bec. they like American $$$$. So they figure they will have this program for Americans who will go back to the states practice there and make a lot of money and then as greatful alumni they will give Sackler $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

A) I think I know the guy you spoke with- he's an *** with everybody. Don't take it personally.
B) Alumnis have never been asked to give money to the school. It's not something that happens. True they don't have any interest in people staying in Israel, but it mainly has to do with the fact that the more Sackler alumnis in the states the better it is for the school (especially considering the fact that overseas schools are judged by alumni placement)
C) The fact of the matter is that sometimes people just don't get into the medical program they want.
D) If I may ask a question- if you got good feedback- how come you didn't get into the american schools?
E) I am sorry about your misfortune- perhaps next year, you never know...

drazimi,
did your brother really get accepted into Sackler or were you just writting that to joke with me?

student-2,
i applied late to U.S. schools. my amcas file wasn't completed until November. i was able to get 3 waitlists from the 8 schools i applied to. all the rolling admission schools rejected me. from the 3 waitlists, i have been rejected from 2 of them. right now i am still on the waitlist for rosalind franklin university but they have 20 spots open and 100 possible candidates still left so the chances are slim. anyway, the moral of the tale is that applying in november will kill you!

everyone,
that guy in the new york office has got some issues. i have called before and each time i call, i pray he doesn't answer. there appears to be two people at the office - a slow witted african american woman and a middle-aged white dude who is just pissed off at life. there was one instance in which i called in april to see how to submit my mcat score and the moment he picked up the phone, he began yelling at me about something i didn't even do. literally, 35 seconds later (he was so furious and talking so fast, i could not stop him) i told him that he had people mixed up. then he said, "ok, what do YOU want?" everytime, i talk to him, he hangs up without saying goodbye. he just drops the phone.

I would try the e-mail route! Anyway- the game isn't over yet!!! Have you tried other Israeli schools? Send me a PM and I will give you the name of the person to ask for. You didn't get it from me!!!

I'm sorry Dr. Azimi, I don't understand what you mean. Does Sackler have a NY Program for pre-meds? Please clarify.

Med schools are just plain weird, and they choose very strange. That being said, its been shown that the MCAT isnt a predictor for the quality of doctor that will come out, its just a way to knock people off.

I wouldnt sweat it, get your AMCAS done earlier, and you stand a good chance at U.S. Schools.

Not to sound brutish, but calling over and over, and being angry, will not change things.

Much easier to say when you are accepted. A little harder when you have been rejected.

That being said, I only called twice.

Let me tell you .. I've seen at least 2 or 3 non-jewish folk make it to Sackler .. I really think its a matter of 'fit'.
