I'm confused. Is your back damaged or not because it is mightly difficult to put up over three plates with a bad back.

That's what I thought, too but when I gave him some weight lifting advice he told me that he damaged his back so he doesn't work out anymore.

Yea I have changed my workout considerably. I now do a lot of girly pilates sp? type core functional multi-planar spinal stablization excercises. Plus a lot with the physio ball.
I dont do pyramid workouts anymore either. I do that 5 sets of 5-6 slow and go up 5 lbs a week no matter how much my mind tells me to push more.
Lucky most of my discs are not totally herniated. Just bulged. Mostly soft tissue damage. But PT, acupuncture, chiro, pool, and physio ball has really helped.
I prob will never be where I once was. I have a feeling I am gonna lose a lot of weight too come first term. So only after considerable stretching and warming up will I try to max out.
I dont max out and do the bouncing off the chest and torque your back thing. I max out in a very stable isotonic form

It scares me when I see some people work out here (and back in Canada when I was there). It's just an accident/injury waiting to happen.
The sad thing is when the big, ripped guy with the awesome genetics does it and gets away with it and then little Pee Wee comes along and imitates him and wonders why his lower back is hurting him in a couple years.
It's inevitable sometimes but I try not to let ego get in my way. I lift what I'm comfortable lifting in a controlled fashion. Doesn't matter if it happens to be 10 lbs or 80.
The toughest part is "competing" against myself and thinking about what I used to toss around when I didn't have all of this stress and busy lifestyle. I used to squat 3 plates and some a couple years ago and now it's a pain to do less than 2. *sigh*

I hear ya, I am just fighting to maintain. Funny how working out and diet only provide short term benefits and once you stop for a while there is that mental funk I have to break out of daydreaming of better physique days. Gotta just move forward and get those first couple weeks in and I usually feel like then I never stopped
What gets me is that if I cant support my strict diet and protein intake I get very frustrated with lifting b/c as you know growth occurs when you are outside the gym and how you constantly are aware of how you feed your body, get deep REM sleep (when most testosterone is released) and try to remain stress free. People dont release how stress plays such a majar part in lossing muscle mass and promoting fat storage and slowing down protein synthesis.
It sucks

i noticed a few people running in those clips;
any good trails about or is it mostly side-o-the-street down there (for those that know) ?
i typically use running as my main destressor (cept sometimes my feet dont agree ;))

GND is a great place to run. Its like the Tour De GND for Running. So hilly. Off campus where you saw people runiing is not hilly but there are many holes cracks sidewalks end. But after you run a certain routes you adjust to the good spots like anywhere else

Thanks for those videos--especially b/c I am very curious and I won't get a chance to go to GND before school. Runner myself so I'm excited about those trails! :D "100 degrees" huh? I'm taking that that's what it feels with the humidity... Speaking of humidity, a lot of mosquito bites?

during the wet season which is from like june-oct/nov, all the bugs come out and this includes swarm of mosquitos and flies...you will learn how to eat and swat insects at the same time

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Actually, I think I'll swat them before I eat them--it seems easier that way.
