Did anyone applied to U.S med school before applying to Caribbean schools or just straight to Caribbean? If you did, which ones and where they easy to get into schools?
My friend told me that some people who really just want to become a doctor they keep on trying to get into any school. Like people who don't get into M.D Schools go to D.O. Schools and if not there then to Dental Schools, if not there then maybe to Pharmacy School. I also heard that Dental Schools are much easier to get into then others. I know all this sounds crazy. I'm thinking about applying to U.S med schools first and then to Caribbean schools, but does anyone know which schools have higher acceptance chances in U.S?

I didn't apply to a US school. I had the grades science 3.75 and overall 3.68) and application to get in I just never made time to take the MCAT and after I graduated I didnt' want to wait another year to apply to a US school because I would have had to wait around and take the MCAT and then wait on the decision. So my wife and I decided it would be best for me to go to a school in the caribbean.

To check the stats on acceptance you should look in a book published by the AMA called MSAR. Medical School Admission Requirments. They have all the MCAT scores, avg. GPA, etc for each school in the US, Canada, and P.R.

Salutations "Reality-Architect":

I also did not apply to U.S. medical schools. After I graduated, I applied to Saba and was accepted. I also didn't want to wait to apply to a U.S. school. Good luck. Ciao.

It is my impression that the vast majority of Caribbean students did apply to US schools and were unable to gain acceptance, many even being 'waitlisted' multiple times. This is not just conjecture, but actual gleanings from my fellow students. I, like the others posting above, did not apply to US schools, but based on all of my friends' experiences, I'd say that we are definately in the vast minority.

So, yes, most people do attempt to get into US schools first.
