Do Canadian citizen's also need H1B's for doing residency in the States?

Just want to confirm.

yes. h1b or j1 visa. read about the pros and cons of both...it's all over the site. oh, and if you happen to marry an american, then you don't need a visa...

Or unless you have close ties to the US. (ie. your parent(s) were born in the US or held US citizenship you can qualify for dual citizenship. It's complicated but possible)

Ummm.... you might want to tell this to the Immigration officials who denied my Canadian friend entry into the US. She is married to a US citizen (for over 10 years).
