Dear people, I seriously need help.
Please give me the best advice possible. My story is something like this….I am an migrant legal resident of the united states….we moved like six years ago and I did two years of high school over here….considering that I was an immigrant and it was really hard for me to pick up the education and language over here, I did my 3 years in 2 years as cum lade. So I graduated from high school in honors….and then went to the county college and graduated from there in honors as well….my GPA was 3.67. But before I transferred to the State University I was diagnosed with migraine and I had been having migraine and was diagnosed when they were sever so medicines weren’t helping me at all and therefore got bad grades during the first year at the university and then in the second year my mother got seriously ill which cased me to lose attention over my studies and get all bad grades…..my mother was seriously ill and I had to take care of her and home as well as my studies…..my parents wouldn’t let me skip studiesngs get better….and now I have a sad GPA of 2.5 for the university… I am trying to graduate soon but I will make sure that I graduated with a 3.0 at least.
My question is what should I do after I graduate with a 3.0..should I take the MCAT and apply for the medical school??????????? Will they combine my 3.67 from county college and 3.0 of the university??????? And if so, will that help me at all….Will they see that I was a good student and then there was a problem and again in summer and fall I made all As...I really am a good student and want to become a doctor from bottom of my Heart. I must become a physician. But considering where I stand right now….what should I do??????Please Please Please help me and advise me to what should I do?????? I don’t want to go to the international medical school b/c I have heard that after graduation you get to work some states but not the other states and when I become a doctor I want to be able to work anywhere I want…..I don’t want to be restricted….Also I don’t want to go to Caribbean schools….Please tell me what should be my next step after I graduate in Fall 06 with a 3.0 GPA???? Should I start studying for MCAT and apply to some schools and if so which American schools I should apply to excluding Caribbean and international medical school. And I want to become and MD NOT DO. Thanks a bunch….I really am very worried and thinking a lot please help me….thanks in advance.

honestly if u score high on ur MCATs (30 and up in my option), get good reccom letters, have a great personal statement, and have a good interview ul b straght. i have a friend, who had a 3.1 GPA, and was accepted to USF in FL. apply EARLY EARLY. i was worried... if i knew about this site at the time i would have wrote 2x what u have. but thats what it comes down 2. and if u knock out the MCAT, the rest will follow. so STUDY HARD and good luck!!! and honestly carrib is not as bad as u think... if it comes down to that and u still want 2b a MD, then research, u may find some carrib schools are not as bad as u think

First off, relax (you know freaking out wont help solve your situation. Yea, if I were in your shoes I would prep myself for the MCAT immediatley after graduation. You have been delt some cards that were not in your best interests (most of us have). At this point you need to make a priority list and really get serious about becoming a MD. You seem like a quick learner, which is good. I don't know if two separate Universities/ College credits transfer as a single GPA or not. First, make sure you graduate. Second, start preparing for the ASAP! I heard stories about some students who had lower GPA scores but scored exceptional on the MCAT and get accepted. I believe in getting the higher MCAT score as a bottom line. Since your a quick learner do some research on your particular situation. I know help is on here or somwhere else. Good Luck!

The best advise I can give you is that you must stay positive. If you can see yourself be a physician you will be one day...despite the many obstacles you might have to face.
