Hey everyone,

I am planning on visiting Saba, along with Statia and Saba the week of 5/14, and plan on being on Saba Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday (5/16-5/18)

I was wondering what would be the best way to go abouts trying to visit the school (attending classes, maybe?), finding a place (or someone) to stay (with), island-hopping, etc etc. Would the school be able to help with anything like this, or maybe anything with the student government?

So far, I am planning on taking a flight on 5/14 (Sunday) from Newark to San Juan on Continental (for $201 roundtrip), and then island hopping to:

Sun-Mon-Tues Sint Eustatius
Tues-Wed-Thurs Saba
Thurs-Fri-Sat Nevis
Sat during the day in San Juan, visiting the city
Sat night flight back to Newark.

Please PM me if you have any tips, hints, or suggestions on places to stay, or know of anyone who is willing to take in a 21-year-old male who is easy-going :)

Thanks a lot, everyone, and I apologize for posting this on both the Statia and MUA forums also

Hi, when I visited Saba last November, I stayed at a hotel called Juliana's in Windardside. I couldn't stay in the dorms because no visitors are allowed to stay with students perhaps because the rooms are so small. I didn't know anyone enough on VMD to ask them if I could crash at their place, so I just booked a hotel.

The school is located at the Bottom, so I just took a taxi to the school. I saw Laura (the housing coordinator) and she showed me around the school. I saw the library, the gym, the new groundbreaking, the cafeteria. I also sat in on the Histology class, and talked to lots of students. I then went around to the professor offices and met some of them such as the pathology professor and one more guy. Everyone was very very very nice to me! I had the number of NATE from VMD, but we didn't get to meet up because I couldn't get a hold of him and my internet access was limited, but all in all I had a good time. I really liked the students and the professors were wonderful to me (though the histo class was very very boring!). IN addition, Laura was amazing! She gave me a great tour.

Thus, my suggestion would be to book a hotel, and just hitch a ride or take a taxi to the school. You might want to call the school and let them know you will be there. They might be able to arrange something for you, and def. find Laura. She was a great help to me and father. BTW, by the third day, we were very bored. All the students were really busy with their classes, and we had done pratically everything there is do on the island, besides scuba diving because we weren't certified, so my father and I just hung out and enjoyed the peace and quite. I'm not saying this to deter you, I just wanted to let you know that perhaps three days on Saba will be too much unless you really hang out with the students. It is the peace, quite, and yes sometimes boredem that will let me really dive into medicine and study hard, or at least I hope so!

I hope this helps. PM if you want anymore information.
