41 year old male presents with painful arthritis in his right big toe and uric acid renal stones. He is on allopurinol for this condition? What is the biochemical defect?

1. defect in urea synthesis
2. defective topoisomerases
3. abnormality of the purine degradation pathway
4. inability to synthesize non-essential amino acids
5. increased level of leukotrienes

#3--abnormality in the purine degradation pathway

What is the first thing you do, hidrate the patient, then what medication
will you give, that will be colchicine for acute gout.

Leshnyhan is also related with elevated uric acid
