Hey everyone,

I just signed up for Valuemd. I have my interview tomorrow, and i'm pretty nervous. Reading all of your postings has been a great help, I was just wondering if anyone had any last minute tips to give me? Thanks again for all the help.

It's all personal. Some people go home every break - some stay. One of my classmates had his wife and two children and they didn't go stateside the entire two years. I stayed for one of the breaks and used a portion of the money I saved to get Scuba certified. it's easier to do if you have family with you - if you're alone like I was it gets old fast. I got so sick of watching movies/TV.....

Really it's up to you. The island is much quieter when a majority of the students are gone...it's a very different world.

Best of luck,
~S

If you have family then staying on Saba or vacationing to the neighbouring islands is nice that is what some of my married friends did (sometimes up to 3 semesters). However, if you are alone the island can get pretty boring. Remember it is just a 5 Sq mi rock, you have two great places to hike, nice place to scuba dive and maybe the occasional Carnival not a lot to do outside of school. In Sint Martin there is more to see a 15 min plane trip away. Best of luck. Two year ago when I went you could get a two way ticket for $800 US. I got my best fares booking with AA online and playing with the dates. Also I found that driving a rental to Seattle then catching a plane was most of the time at least $200 cheaper. Nice to see another Vancouverite making the plunge. I am back in Delta so let me know if you need anything.
