perhaps you can't find a "community medicine residency" because no such thing exists...

It's not a recognized specialty ior subspecialty in the US. Perhaps family medicine with a community focus (rather than, say, a rural focus)?

www.agcme.org has all the approved programs and institutions.

The girl's right... community medicine is an awesome residency program. It's just that lots of the amazing pioneers in this field are dead!!!

In any case, this is becoming a more important area and there are community-oriented residencies in the US, if not precisely "community medicine". I think I have heard of a residency program. I would check out this guy:

Michael E. Kerr, M.D., director of The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family in Washington, D.C

These are residencies with a "systems" or "ecological" framework.

Cheers

In the US, you can do a community medicine clinical rotation, but NO such residency exists to date... if you would like to see a list of approved ACGME residencies, they are on the FREIDA website (google it) or goto www.ama-assn.org (http://www.ama-assn.org) and click the FREIDA link. Community Medicine is more like a rural track FP program, and if you are interested in that, let me know by PMing me
