I am from a carrib school that is not approved for residency by nystate. I am still thinking about starting residency in ny anyway. I don't care about getting licensure in ny after residency... it's just really impt that i am in ny for residency. If the hospital accepts me, i don't understand what the state board will do. Does anyone know what happens? Does anyone know anybody who is in or completed residency in ny from a non approved school?
Also, where in the ny state board website does it say that you cannot do residency if your school is not approved??? it only says that you need to be ecfmg certified. Please, does anyone know?? Thanks alot in advance.

based on my personal search there are high number of grads from unapproved[never applied]schools did residency and fully licensed in NY,many appeared for interview by the full NY board[they appeared for other reason like doing med school in 2 carribean schools, etc],one example the *doc who won the lawsuit against Oklahoma med board trained in NY and return to NY for practice now[I read the NY board minutes and found such info],many UTESA,SPARTAN,among other schools grads did residency and practicing in NY,some actually in the best places like Columbia university hospitals,SUNY,upstate among others.
I believe NY is an easier approva than CA and FL and now a day if a school does not have such approvals that is shame and sad and people simply should go to the approved ones.
*just a note regarding some made a statement here that if you complaint about a board in one state[like the OK guy] all states will not license you, that is totally untrue, boards look at facts and in our opinion as US educators we must praise individuals who believe in themselves and as we teach our kids "if you believe in yourself and you are right never be afraid to stand up for your rights "
please verify above info.
personal opinion.

I understand that ny needs all core rotations to be green. Am i correct or will they allow rotations under the fp umbrella?
