I sent an email to SMU explaining my situation about being accepted to another school and how long will it take for me to get reviewed/accepted. Here is what I received:
You are seriously late. You need to get me a complete application ASAP
or you'll have little chance of acceptance. Just a note, that transfers
from other schools are becoming more rare and you must have an
exceptional reason.

I thought this school accepts everyone as long as their application is in 3 months before the semester starts?

Sounds official. I'm sorry if you don't get into SMU, but it's good to see the school turning people away and not just accepting a person as long as they have a pulse.

I'm not surprised. Classes are full. I believe SMU can now pick and choose. I would hurry with your process if you can, if SMU interests you. Good luck, I don't want to discourage you, but SMU is growing fast. :)
Are you applying for May or Sept?

September. I sent in my application today. 2 of my recommendations should be there already and the third one is with my application package. Transcripts were requested and should be on their way either tommorow or wednesday. I sent in unofficial copies so they can get the ball rolling. I am guessing that the application will get there by thursday. The USPS seems to work quickly these days. Maybe I should have flew down there on today and hand deliver it :p

It sounds like you're on the right tract. September is usually the largest class (at all schools). I'm surprised that the September class is filling up this soon. Good luck, hopefully we'll see you in September. :) If September doesn't work out for you, and SMU is the school for you, I would see if they can place you in the January or May class.

I don't understand the schools reply to you, unless they just assumed it was for this coming May.... I have also applied for Sept 06 and they keep telling me that there is plenty of time and June is really when it start to get tougher but still not considered really late.

I think that is what happened. I never specified in the email that I were applying for Sept. He must have assumed that I am applying for May

Hi,
I was applying for May, but due to time constraints and because I'm enrolled in a couple pre-reqs currently, my application has been moved to August. Like the previous poster, I have been assured that there is enough time to get final transcripts in to apply for August. I'm sure they misunderstood. Dr. M has been extremely helpful with all of my questions/issues/etc. If you're concerned just give him a call. The phone number is on the school's website.
Good luck! :)

If you didn't let them know exactly what semester you are applying for then I'm sure that's the issue. The same thing happen to me when I was applying for the Jan. semester however, they thought I was applying for the Aug. semester. Let them know and hopefully everything will be taken care of.
