Unfortunately, this coming semester, there is only one course for the Masters' Program that I have not yet taken (or received transfer credits for), and I am wondering what other options there are? I really prefer taking 2 classes to maintain my current Stafford amount. An online class is one possibility, but this is not preferable due to the way that financial aid is disbursed. Of course, I have emailed the program advisor and am awaiting a response. I realize, too, that, by taking an online class, I will only receive financial aid (ie, Stafford loans) for the cost of the class itself.

Since I rely on the loans for living expenses in the luxury suites of West Bay **sigh**, I predict that I am going to be forced to look elsewhere for additional funding (through the Sallie Mae private loan, I suppose) or try to get out of my lease and move to another place of residence. Taking out yet another loan just doesn't seem wise to me at this time. At this point in time, I have completed 500, 511, 512, 545, 575, and 655.

I would prefer to do some sort of independent study, but I am not exactly sure what this would entail, nor do I know if this is feasible. Has anyone previously been in similar shoes? If so, what was the resolution for you?

Thanks in advance for any input you are able to provide.

Try to get one of the following courses approved:

HSA 725 Applied Research Paper (3 credits)
Aims to integrate the MHSA curriculum, enabling the student to demonstrate mastery of subject matter learned from various courses, as well as skills in research, reasoning, and writing. The student works with a faculty reader in a customized applied research experience that draws on the student’s interests and abilities. The student will have six months to
complete the project, but may apply for one three-month extension and a Maintenance of
Matriculation Status, if necessary. This course is recommended for those students anticipating continuing in graduate (doctoral) study after completion of the Masters Degree. Prerequisite: All core courses and at least 5 elective courses.

HSA 726 Applied Management Project (3 credits)
This is a capstone option. It is designed by the student, with the approval of a faculty supervisor, to solve a major management problem related to the student’s occupational role. The course represents an applied management experience that integrates both management and research skills under faculty supervision. The student will have six months to complete the project, but may apply for one three-month extension and a Maintenance of Matriculation Status, if necessary. Prerequisite: All core courses and at least 5 elective courses.

It is a long shot, but worth a try.

i remember some people trying to get out of a lease in cayman and it was rediculous. some people lost their deposits, and a month of rent too. you really need to weight out your options. I know if you talk to both schools, they will be more than willing to help you out. best of luck.
