bug zappers and/or general help with killing the local wildl

Before I left, I talked to a few people who said they had picked up some sort of bug zapper that you plug into the wall and leave on the floor IN your apartment .(and others who said they had seen them.) I got the impression it was a scaled down version of the thing you see outdoors sometimes with the soft blue light and cool sizzle sound effects.

I looked at cost-u-less and Ace, but couldn't find anything like it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or where to get one? Is this thing safe or is it some island mad scientist invention that gonna fry my dogs and every little kid who comes over and visits?

Any other 'non-obvious' advice on getting the bugs out?

I'm not suite sure about the inside zappers, never heard of them. But, we bought an outdoor zapper with the blue light like you described and it has helped every night. We noticed a difference right away. We bought ours at Ace.

We have also heard about these "raquets" that you swing and they zap the bugs...we finally got to see one in action last night. They bouht theirs at Penney's (nothing like JC Penney). But watch out...those pack a mean zap...some of the guys tried out the zap and it wasn't pretty :shock:

Off works good at keeping most of the bugs away and we've never had any luck with citronela candles.

I bought one of those citronella candles from cost-u-more. The mosquitos outside my apartment are literally ferocious. I have to hide in my bedroom under a blanket to keep the little basterds at bay. However, I put one of those candles in my doorway on the floor and leave the door open to get the nice breeze. With the candle lit, I never get bothered.

May I suggest something which is a bit primitive, but effective? Take a big plastic bag, coat it inside with any oil that is sticky (vegetable oil for example), and tie it near the light in the room. Mosquitoes and other bugs which get attracted to the light try to land on the bag for some rest. If you r lucky and the bug lands inside the bag, it can't escape as the oil makes it to stick to the bag. I know this is really weird, but believe me it works as it was used very effectively by me everytime I visited my grand mother's village when I was in India.

They would sell it at the supermarket in cole bay just off the main road before the french side...can't remember the name...maybe Rams. You will need a converter to plug it into the outlet...it is euro style voltage. Basically it is a small anti-mosquito disk, blue color, that is put on this thing that plugs into an outlet.
