Does anyone know how long you have to be licensed in one state to apply for reciprocity to another state. Is every state different w/ the amount of time? Is there any state that doesn't allow this(I'm pretty sure CA is one right)?

Thanks

I wouldn't get too excited about reciprocity. I think you still have to apply fro licensure in each state you want to practice in. G

MOST states do not have "automatic" reciprocity -- meaning that most states will NOT allow you to walk in with another state's license and "short cut" their own licensing process. In most cases, you fill out the same form as any initial applicant. Your state license pretty much ends at the border of the state, and means nothing in others...

There is NOTHING remotely resembles the "interstate drivers license compact" where states recognizes each other's drivers license when it comes to medical licenses. Not even close.

Unless you get denied for licensure in anothe state...that can make it interesting to apply anywhere else, and may just follow you all over the place....:-)

Picard, maybe we can trade licenses for the weekend. That will be the stuff teen movies are made from.

Sure George, which state do you want to trade? Make sure you trade ones without pictures... I don't look anything like Buzz Lightyear...

I have several for you to choose from:
1) Klingon Board of Medicine -- but you must speak Klingon on Kronos.
2) Bajoran Ministry of Health
3) United Federation of Planets

Working on Romulan, cardassian, and Ferangi licenses.

You do of course realize I am a Star Wars fan.
:starwars:
You may have all those licenses, but my sons legal middle name is Chewbacca. I can't in good faith trade for any of those licenses...:D

Yeah... basically to recap what everyone else has been saying about it.

1-Reciprocity varies from state to state and not all states have it.

2-Many states who do endorse by reciprocity do not do so for IMGs or have different standards.

3-In all states that I have looked into (though you should look in each case) you still apply for a license in the new state. The previous license is simply used as verification that all requirments have been met.

Sorry... my bad. I just realized that our Prime Directive prohibits interference with the natural evolution of pre-warp civilizations. When Nabu is ready to join the UFP, we will revisit the licensing issue...

I wanted our son to have the middle name Mogh, so our grandson can be named "Warf, son of Mogh"... my wife veto'd it.
