I am not an AUC med student, but my husband will be starting there in January.
Conduct a search for transferring... I have seen many posts on this topic. I didn't really pay attention to these details, but I do remember seeing something about it not looking so great on the transcripts.
Best of luck!

everyone says transfring doesn't look good on trancripts but if you absolutely have to then why not. they accept transfer students i am not sure what credits they will take but as long as it is not one of those internet schools i don't think they will have a problem. call the office in miami they can tell you for sure. there are quite a few transfer students here from ross and one from mua.
every semester you have a few people that tranfer out and a few that come in just remember that things always look better on the other side
auc has a lot of good points and it also bad points. what i like about the school are the facilities, the location, and most of the profs are US trained, our dean was an oncologist until he retired so he knows the system. in the short 8 months that i have been here i have seen the admin do many things to improve the school most of which has to do with faculty issues since the facilities can't be improved any more. what i don't like are some profs teaching styles but that can be at any school. the only thing that has upset me here has been the tuition hike last semester with admin claiming lack of funds then they spend a week putting up more decorative fixuters in the rotunda. i did study architecture in the US and people's tastes are different around the world i guess but i never liked the overly decorative byzentine style and throw in gold tones with teal accents and yellow flowers and it just hurts me to walk into the rotunda.....hehe
look into sgu and ross also they are both very reputable schools. mitchdc will accentuate every positive aspect of ross but i don't agree with his assesment of dominica. it will be hard to get used to after a life of privilige and 24 hour taco bells for most people. i lived in cochabamba bolivia for a while and that is upper third world, if you take a ride out to la pampa and see the huts on the side of road all you need to do is add jungle around it. i was only there a short time and i don't think it is a bad place to live but i think you have to go prepared. i've never been to greneada. there are two other people here from bolivia so at least you wouldn't be the only one. peace gotta get back to lab

hey rrod,. thanks for answering my question. i am basically looking into ross and AUC. Iam currently in a school that basically....in the simplest terms...SUCKS. I dont care if its the carribbean, i really want to learn medicine and if you say the professors are trained in the states and the tests are challenging...then iam gung-ho for it. by the way, if you have email addresses of other students so that i may ask the same, i would apprecita it or they can simply place there thoughts on this bulletin board.
Also look into Saba, they are a fairly reputable school with many graduates. I wonder if I had a decent telescope, Would I be able to see their school from SXM? hummm![]()
Good luck!
btw, annoy rrod to death, he could use it after his Histo test(not sure how he did though)![]()
Finally beat Super Mario Bros within 7 mins.
AUC was the only Carib school that I applied to. Ross and St. G both have great reputations, but roughing it can get old in a hurry. I've run into some Ross students taking a break over here and all they do is complain about the "one grocery store with no American food" or the one bar that's about the size of fast food drive through. However, if that sort of thing is unimportant to you, then one of those schools would be the way to go - less (or no) distractions from your studies. Just remember, two years is a long time.
Ross does not have a good rep..Ross lots its ability to rotate at Union Mem for Surgery core..They stuff the programs with like 15+ students in each core.
