    off-campus housing

Ok....if I were to arrive on January 2 how hard do you think it would be to find off-campus housing close to school? Also, would it be even harder if I were bringing a small dog with me??

Where can I find more info on off-campus housing anyways??

    Any info would be appreciated!

    Maybe rethink your date.....

You may want to consider coming a week earlier if you want a shot at finding decent housing. There isn't anything open on Saturdays here. I wasn't here over Christmas break last year so I don't know how they work over New Year, but I would have to guess most everything will be closed.

You don't want to try to find an apartment after school starts. Anatomy lab is a huge chunk of your afternoon and afterwards you will smell so bad even the computer lab and library are off limits!

Try searching Jennifer's Vacation Villas. They do long term rentals, too. There is also a Remax that handles long term stuff. You can contact them by email (or phone) to see what is available. You might be able to arrange a place to live before you hit the island!

My partner and I came down a week early to find a place. It didn't take that long, but with the holidays it might take longer. Good luck!

    no problem

the problem wouldn't be finding a place the problem would be finding a place that isn't going to rip you off since you will be desperate and ready to move in as quickly as possible. the only leverage you have here is time, prices really aren't set by location but by how badly you need it so get here a week ahead at least. my 2cents

    Pets

From what I have read on here, it seems that the island is pretty pet friendly...as are many apartments, so it shouldn't be a big problem finding housing for you and a pet, as long as you have about a week to find a place.

Search the AUC forum for "pets"...alot of information has already been posted. The availability for housing which will accept pets (dependant upon quantity and type) may be limited, so you'd best start your search early.
