    Congrats!

Congratulations! My husband (Flash) will be starting in January as well! We will be arriving around Dec. 16th. From what others have said on here, as long as you arrive about 1-2 weeks before classes start, you should be fine with finding a place, getting settled in, etc. Be sure to add your info to the Jan '04 newbie thread!

I'm from Seattle... well Redmond actually. Yes, I'm a yuppie eastsider. One word of caution to all Seattlites... THERE IS NO STARBUCKS ON THE ISLAND!!!!

BTW, I'm a first semester here so I might be able to answer all your Seattle vs. SXM questions.

    Congrats on your acceptance!

    Look on the bright side....

You won't be paying that extra $.10 tax per cup that so many Seattlites were up in arms about.

Airfare.... Well, I went through Jetblue from Sea-Tac to San Juan, Puerto Rico(airport code: SJU) and then bought a flight from SJU to SXM.
The ticket from Seattle to SJU through jetblue was $299 one way.
The ticket from SJU to SXM through expedia=> Caribbean Sun was $100 so 400 bucks total one way.

I searched through the jetblue dates until I found the cheapest one which turned out to be on Tuesday(usually). So if you are flexible, just keep plugging away on the jetblue website until you find the cheapest cheap flight.

Ah Edmonds. Korean Food, Krispy Kreme...
    (Homer Simpson impression) ummmmm donuts....

    flights

Microphage, did you buy a one-way ticket? Is this possible? I heard you need a return ticket. I have been trying to make travel arrangements all morning and so far, nothing good has come out of it. lots of flights are booked...and some say you need a return ticket, which is even more expensive...i guess because of everybody traveling during christmas...
