Important information regarding dean's letters and ERAS
I have figured out why our Dean's letters are not being uploaded by ECFMG/ERAS. Apparently Mollie King at AUC writes and signs the dean's letters and there is nothing on the letter that actually says it is a dean's letter.......so ECFMG does not have any idea how to assign the letter. Therefore, my dean's letter has been sitting at ECFMG for almost a month now.
So what do we do about this......if you have not sent your dean's letter, when you request it ask them to stamp it as a dean's letter (and the same goes for your LORs) so ECFMG knows how to assign it. Or if you have already requested the dean's letter, email ECFMG at eras-support@ecfmg.org and tell them to assign the letter by "mollie king" as the dean's letter so they can then upload it (also give your aamc#). Tell everyone you can about this. Also, it seems that ECFMG is at least one week behind on scanning documents. As of today they are scanning documents from september 8th. |

Interesting
My Dean's letter says it's been uploaded. HOWEVER, all of the programs that have downloaded my stuff--And I mean every single one of them-- has downloaded everything including photo, yet the Dean's letter says: "Available, but not retreived by program." Now what do you make of that? Do these programs know AUC's dean's letter is a joke or do they just not put much stock in it in general? You know what, come to think of it, I was so pessimistic about them sending my dean's letter to ecfmg that I literally wrote out the instructions on what meio needs to do for documents and address where to send the document when I sent in the request. No wonder why mine actually got uploaded as I told them what to do!

Ummmmm...
Not to be rude, but what you understand in WRONG. My Dean's letter has been uploaded...(and lemme check the date....yup! Not even close to Novemeber 1st!) and many of my peers, both foreign and US med schools, have their Dean's letters (and everything else) already uploaded - so check your facts!

question for aucguy
when you say uploaded...what do you mean...do you mean that the programs have already downloaded your deans letter and looked at it? What I was talking about was that I didn't think programs are able to look at it until Nov 1st...of course it will be uploaded to ERAS PO..but are programs retrieving it?

one more thing for aucguy
uhhhhh I guess your just such a strong applicant that they had to see your MSPE ASAP!!! because the following was taken from ERAS websit
All Dean's Letters/MSPEs are held at the ERAS PostOffice until November 1, at which time they are released Do you think you could put in a few good words for us who have to wait until November 1st for our MSPE's to be released? That would be awesome. Thanks in advance!!!!! lol |

Dean's Letter / MSPE
Just an update on the content/format of the letter...
I just spoke to Mollie KING on the phone, and she said that they have changed the format due to popular unrest. She states that "GPA, Core Evals, USMLE Scores, Eval Comments, Location of rotations, and 'anything else we can put in there' " are included. The letter is only sent to ECFMG/ERAS, no personal copies. So let us proceed with crossed fingers on this one. Thank you folks that made all the noise about this issue. B. |

I guess we'll have to collectively cross our fingers. If anyone gets a look at their Dean's letter, give a report to the rest of us. God only knows what it says, let's hope for the best!
