Thumbs up A Slam Dunk shoot on USMLE step 1

hi Guys. I just want to say hello to you guys on the Island and at clinicals. And Today is very much joyous day in my life as I just checkd ECFMG site that said I have passed step 1. Probably the sheer joy and relief in passing step 1 is not even compared to a million dollar inheritance from the grandparents or anything else in the world. Why is that? you have earned it by hard working and sacrifices of own. Even Bill gate cant buy it with his whole asset of billion dollars. Yes, it is priceless.

My whole family and especially my beloved mother are very elated than even myself in which I truly give the whole credit for them not to myself in this milestone of hard battle to obtain a career in medicine as a physician. Without their unconditional support, I would not be here today. Many thanks to them and to the Almighty and to the AUC professors and the staffs. Anyone who is considering AUC, you have my whole hearted endorsement for your decision. There is no perfect medical schools on this planet. Even if you go to Harvard med school, there are some people with resentment according to a professor. The professor quoted "there are always bad apples in every box of good apples". AUC provides you with opportunity and tools to acheive your dream and you do your own work to accomplish the mission.

There are some problems and anguish from some AUC students, But again, please mind that again, there is no perfect schools since we humans are all imprerfect from the birth to the grave. I had pursued a doctoral degree in chemistry at a prestigious engineering school prior to AUC in Colorado. The shcool was great but some professors were unbearably erogant and harsh. And some students were not good. Again, it all comes down to your own and your inner strength. The greatest enemy is always yourself. What stand behind you and ahead of you is not more significant than what stand within self.

The medicine is extremely demanding and the school including AUC is challenging you to the core of your soul. However the reward is worthwhile and precious which I would not trade with a million bucks.

The experience in preparing for step 1 and taking it and waiting for a month for result is an entities that I will never forget. Those hard years were as if you walk in the dark turnnel that has no lights and nothing has ben promised. People calls it delayed appreciation for sure reason. During the exam, you will be baffled with some "odd " questions while you try to locate key words and classical symtoms and signs. The truth is that there is no reasons to get discouraged by thems!
Thus my advice is to make a best yet educated guess and click on mark and move on! the time pacing is critical as much as the knowlege itself.

Know First Aid very thoroughly and efficiently that you will have mastered this wonderful book. I have read this book counltess times and used it as a roadmap among the vast source of review material. The Book First Aid was my navigational GPS unit in rough sea of chaotics. So dont be quick to give up on this book since it never explains a lot but the bone and skeletal charts with very condensed infor just as a GPS unit is compact and small yet dont give you comlicated equations of geometrical theorom on practals and the theroy of relativity but only the immmediate life saving cordiations of you in unknown terrain. There is not a single page on my First Aid that I did not write on a note. Of course, Qbank was my drill seargent in that journey through the jungle full of beasts of uncertainties.

Anyway, I can enjoy some time off with my family in Denver now and I will lookfoward to next chapter of this long journey in medicine.

Take care all and Many Blessings to you guys.

The God be with you.

Ken

Smile

thanks Jeff, Jon, Mitch, **** and all of you guys.
And say hello to others on the island especially Greg, you mitch. I have no doubt that you two guys will ace step 1 especially Greg. Just dont kill too much time on Golf course when you have to study for step soon. Say hello to Pam, Arunimar, and mitchelle.

And Jeff, Say hello to catherine, your wife. I still cant belive that we are out of the island and done with step 1. Thanks for the all the encouragment during our time on the island. Your friendshiop means a lot to me always. I would always feel guilty of burden not being able to pay back for you.
And jon, hope all of your family doing great.

Jae, say hello to Bao and ******* in histo.you gentlemen will get there soon. Hope you will do well in those legendary class of histo with Dr. G and Dr Yoshida's. It will be different but you will do great. Just work hard and share the material with others. Remember that you guys are there for helping each other not to compete. Synergetic effects are wiser and more energy efficient than compatititve antagonism which waste the efficacy and dosage of your potential if you know what I meant. Dont hesitate to pull out others when they got behind and someday they will do same for you. But again, do it freely and give and dont exprect any return and you will be surprised how much more bounce back to you nicely......everything comes and goes around. No one live by herself or himself. There must be a reason that all of us born with two open hands to give freely and when those hands are empty, then give out of your heart, which is limitless and bottomless resources as who you are as a person self.

We all gonnna be a good bunch of physicians. Possibly we gonna be able to make difference in people's daily sturuggle with pain and suffering. Let's keep us informed each other and make our AUC diploma well worth along out MD titile.

See you guys soon.

Ken
