Saint James to AUC
Has anyone ever transfered from Saint James to AUC? I'm a current student at Saint James, and I've been told at least one student from Saint James transfered to AUC. Can anyone from AUC varify this? Thank you.

I know there are a couple students from Ross who came here, but I don't know about St. James.
Moreover, I just want to caution you about transferring from one offshore school to another. I was actually looking into transferring at one point partially because of the situation with clinicals here. When I checked with SGU they said that they rarely accept transfers because after you're done, you can have problems getting licensed if they see more than one offshore school on your transcript. From what they told me, they said that you're better off starting over rather than transferring. Just keep that in mind before you make your decision. they
he/she probably heard from someoen who heard it from a cousins roommate's best briend's college roommates sister's uncle that the SGU clinicals were better.
there were problems within aucstudents timeframe of being on the island. the december 03 class that left the island took their sweet time taking step one, the paper i had said that almost half hadn't taken it yet in july 04. then they started getting more people passing first time b/c of the 5th semester change and coupled with the large december 03 class that started taking the exam in august 04-december 04 there appears to have been a huge bottleneck of students passing boards and wanting rotations. this bottle neck lasted all the way to the class before me where many were "forced" to go to uk/ireland/ or any other site that had slots in order to make the 2006 match. let me clatify this further, there have always been plenty of slots spread out through the year but this sudden surge of students in a few months backed up two semesters ahead b/c the slots are spread out there aren't 200 slots that start in any one month......how do i know this? do i have insider info? no, each semster i would get the clinical start dates and add them up, there were always 300-400 US slots and 200 or so uk/ireland within the six months or so that the packet covered. it was shortsighted of the school to not get more sites after the 5th semester makeover and part of it was the december 03 class. for their part the school waived the passing step one requirement to get more people into clinicals and clean up the backlog as well as recruited 6 more sites since then so that for the last year almost there have been no such issues even though the pass rate appears to be the same. so studentauc has very valid points that they lived through and heard everyone in two semesters complain about but they just aren't true anymore so when he/she gets to clinicals they will see how painless and easy it is to get set up even if you don't get your first choice like some of my classmates...

before transfering
Check the SJSM forum...according to that they charge you four grand to transfer, but then again, according to the sjsm students on there, four grand is well worth it.

Hi. I can tell you firsthand that I was charged $4,000 for leaving St. James and attending Xavier. I hired an attorney and am going to arbitration to get this resolved; I will post the result. St. James is no kind of medical school. I know because I was there for 3 weeks before I left. Xavier is a little better, but you are taking a huge risk. I came back to the US, finished my pre-reqs and applied for the fall class at AUC. I am waiting for a decision; I am supposed to hear form them in a couple of days. Perhaps you want to contact the admissions department; they did a good job for me. Best wishes!

Transfer to AUC...
There are three transfers in my class (the third semester). Two of them are from MUA. They got credit for most of the classes they took. As far as St James, I don't know of any. You could try but like others said, licensing issues may come up from going to several carib schools.
