    August '05 vs. January '06 - Differences?

Hi, I am currently debating whether to attend AUC in January or to go to a school that still has seats this September (e.g. SMU, AUA, etc.).

I have read many posts on the pros and cons of all these schools, but I have a few questions regarding timeframe.

The main question I have is if I start in January of 2006, will this negatively affect the clinical rotations/residency choices available to me? I am assuming since US medical schools run Aug-June, isn't it much better to start Caribbean medical school in September so that you are on track when the time comes to apply for your residency?

Any clarification or opinions on the differences between starting in August-Jan-May are would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

very simple but no room for error. you can not decelerate. you must make sure that you only spend 5 semesters on the island. make plans to take step 1 as soon as you leave 5th semester. then get your pass score to meas asap. take whatever rotations they put you in the quickest. you cant be choosy. its all about starting those rotations and getting the ball moving. take very few breaks between electives if at all. that should leave you with some wiggle room for the 2009 match.

Well, if not.. I've come up with several plans:
    1) Get a job at the GAP. But I figure, if I don't fold clothes at home, why would I at work?
    2) Become an assistant chef, with all my scalpel time I can cut meat pretty well.
    3) Tutor biology or some crap. The only downside I see to this is I can't use corporal punishment.
    4) My best idea so far is to go work at a PC Cafe where I'll play games all day, be paid under the table AND get an unemployment check while living with my parents, rent free and get fed!
