Psych is getting more competitive as more US students are going for "lifestyle" residencies. Read the following:

As you can see, 95% of spots were filled last year. 1/3 was filled by FMG's so it's till doable. It's definitely more competitive now than the primary care specialties like IM and FP. It's decent money and with Child fellows getting 200k/year out of the box with a 40 hour "work" (playing games with kids all day) week, you can probably see why it's going that way. General Psych isn't bad either averaging about 160k with a good work schedule. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but I think the word is out on Psych. It's still doable as an FMG, but some of the more competitive programs may be pretty tough now. You can also see the same trend in Path. Hope this helps.
