    Food Recommendations on the Island

Here are some food recommendations for those of you looking for a place to eat. Feel free to add some reviews to this thread!

    Sushi

    a) Old Captain's - So far, the best quality sushi on the island at very decent prices. The restaraunt is not much in terms of decour, but they have a LOT of variety on the menu that includes Japanese, Chinese, American and Italian choices. So far, everything has been quite delicious and very affordable. They're very accomodating to students.

    b) Bamboo Bernie's - Good sushi, but the prices are expensive and they only give ONE piece per order. The service there is also pretty horrible (they're French) unfortunately. The atmosphere however is great, it's right not to the water in secluded little areas for your party. Very nice decour.

    c) Hanabis - Clean and good service. Unfortunately pretty expensive and the sushi quality and portions aren't that great. But the other stuff on their menu is pretty good and their Osaka lunch boxes (at $7) is AWESOME. You get rice, chicken teriyaki, salmon maki and miso soup.

    Hamburgers and similar

    a) Sunset Beach Bar - Some AWESOME hamburgers, and their sirloin burger is great as well! I've heard their swordfish is spectacular but I haven't tried it yet. Located on Sunset beach right next to the airport so you can either watch girls on the beach, girls topless at the bar scoring free drinks or planes taking off.

    b) Sugar Cane - Located right in Atlantis Casino, serves very good hamburgers, hot dogs, onion rings and sandwiches. My favorite that is within walking distance to school.

    c) BB's - unfortunately, to me personally, their quality has gone down. They overcook and burn their hamburgers and take an extraordinarily long time from the moment your order. I don't frequent the place anymore, I'm sad. I used to love it.

    Chinese Food

    a) Peiking Restaraunt - Located near the Sports Book and Caribbean Cinema, some AWESOME Chinese food, especially their fish and the portions are HUGE. I recommend taking a chinese friend with you as the owner will hook you up with authentic food and be extra nice to you

    b) Sichuan's - Who am I kidding? Probably cat meat, but at least it's the most meat for your buck.

    French Food

    a) La California - Located at Grande Case, this restaraunt is spectacularly awesome. It opens up out to the beach where the water is illuminated a beautiful green and blue. The decour is great and service is wonderful, not to mention the prices. It has just about everything on its menu and so far has all been wonderful. I recommend getting the sirloin which is incredibly tendor. At the end, they generously provide free shots. There is also a gift shop.

    Steaks

    a) Rancho's Steak House - Literally on the water, you can watch the water between the cracks on the board. The ribeyes is great and served in decent tummy expanding portions. The smell though from the harbor sometimes is offensive.

    Indian

Lal's - Hands down, the most bang for your buck Indian food that actually tastes good. Right across from the airport. Outdoor breezy atmosphere.

Anan's - Just as good as Lal's, but a bit further out in Simpson Bay past the Burger King. Nice atmosphere.

Are you that desperate to raise your post count you're copying and pasting the same post? :-)

    Lobster

    a) The Greenhouse - The Greenhouse is on front street next to the small pier and a short walk from two casinos. They have more than lobsters of course, and not to mention a couple of pool tables, but their thermodir lobster was VERY good and not to mention decently priced for the island (dependent upon market value ~$20/lb).

    Hangout place

    a) Sopranos - Dang, this place rules. EXCELLENT live music, I so want a CD of them, but they never recorded one. Who knew I'd fall in love with the harmonica? The atmosphere is dark yet cozy, loud yet bearable.

    Addendum - Steaks

    b) Pineapple Pete - Wonderful Ribeye...have it medium rare with the cream peppercorn sauce...mmmmm! Great atmosphere. Game room with pool tables and darts.

    c) Peg Leg Pub - Awesome. A bit pricey, but d@mn! That's some good prime rib and filet mignon. Again, great atmosphere.

    d) Princess Juliana International Airport/Juliana Cafe - Yeah...you heard right. In the airport on the 2nd floor. Good steak, reasonably priced. Ask for a table by the window on a Sunday afternoon to have a terrific view of jumbo jets taking off and landing just feet away...nothing short of spectacular!

You'll get your fill of Hot Tomatoes after your White coat ceremony. I never tried the food there because they ran out quickly.
