That being said, the lifestyle at AUC is probably the best, followed by Saba and SMU. SMU is on a nice island, but incredibly expensive. Plus, SMU has that silly-assed dress code. |

However, you were asking about lifestyle questions, as well - and Grenada was third-world before the hurricane, now they're 4th world. And Dominca (Ross) is fifth or sixth world (in terms of lifestyle). St Maarten is as good as it gets in the Carib, lifestyle is almost like Puerto Rico (which is almost like the mainland US). Saba (the island) is not quite as good, but isn't nearly as bad as Grenada or Dominica. Saba (the school) seems to be having some issues with their loans, too - not sure how that will play out, but not being able to get Stafford loans is a downside to Saba, with private loan issues (which will hopefully be resolved monday) thats just one more issue to deal with. |

auc
I see not many people have addressed the second part of your question.... I will again give my input. Here's some info on AUC.
Education- There are good and bad professors.....not to name names, but there are some really bad.....but then again the good ones are really good so I guess it balances out. The key is, as in many other schools....you gotta learn how to take the particular professors exams. In certain courses (physiology for example), you can study until your eyes fall out and know everything about the subject and STILL fail the exams if you don't know how to study for the particular professor's exam and know which questions to expect from him/her. Facilities- The facilities here are great. Don't have to worry about that. I think there are some pics in the album section of this site. The school is air conditioned and kept clean. I was actually suprised at how beautiful the campus is. Trust me, you don't have to worry about a dirty/ugly campus here. Qualitiy of Life- St. Maarten is one of the most Americanized islands in the caribbean so you'll have many of the comforts of home (movie theatres, bowling, fast food (mcdonalds, burger king, kfc, church's, taco bell, subway....i think that's all of them...). Tons of stuff to do, but with classes, you won't have much time to do them lol. Overall, AUC is an ok school. It's not the best, but not the worst. It will make you a doctor so that's what really counts. There are a lot of headaches, but I say, I can sacrifice 2 years of my life in order to have many more years of happiness. |
