Is there any X-tra help at the Med. School?

    Hello all,

I was wondering if there are tutoring centers at the med. school to help students with the PRe-med courses and the basic sciences? If so , where are they located and how are the hours. Are the TAs helpful on spending some x-tra time with students

What about the other med schools have you heard from other med school students that their school really gives a helping hand for the ones who strive to LEARN

    Please respond honestly....Thanks!

Yes there is extra help but not for pre-med classes(we dont' have a pre-med program here and you should have already finished ur pre med classes before you came here(hence, this is a MED school).

I replied to your other post already so look there for my reply. Also, the teachers themselves have office hours so that might be an even better option.

Never been to any other schools, couldn't tell ya. Most AUC forum users hasn't either.

Thanks for your respond....The thing is that I am going for a career change and I have to chose my med school abroad because I dont have time to study for the MCATs.....I need to finish my prelim courses and the med schools are willing to offer it to me...would you have any suggestions...where I should go...maybe?I know AUA is out of the question cuz i need a place to practice afterwards.....and from the looks of it now...it is not on my list.

I think you should concentrate on your MCATs first. that's goal #1. MCATs are required for SGU, ROSS, AUC. Saba doesn't require the MCAT but I'm not sure about St. Matthews.

Well, I'd suggest you finish off your MCATs and your pre-med/prelim classes in the US where the tution is cheaper and the education is more widely accepted.

Don't take any shortcuts. Quite a few of us left our careers to pursure this adventure. Shortcuts may haunt you later on.

    Good luck.

I agree with microphage. Definately don't take any short cuts or they'll come back to haunt you in the end. US schools are a lot less hastle for you. But if that doesn't work out, my recommendation for Caribbean schools would be St. George's, Ross, or AUC. I'm not too sure about St. Matthews, I don't know a lot of info because it's rather new, but from what I hear it should be ok. Also, Saba is also a good school, but the island isn't very built up and thus there isn't much to do there, but then again you'll have more time to study...so it depends on your preference.

It was Thanksgiving weekend, everybody has their time of weakness. Mine is 30 pounds of turkey with good ham and some pumpkin pie.

What's your excuse for not winning the basketball tournament considering you're like Shaq around here.

    !
SGA sponsors a core of tutors in a majority of the subjects from 1st thorugh 3rd semester for no charge. Anatomy has there own set of TAs who have a schedule which they regularly adhere. All are there to help facilitate your learning.
