Thread: are dirt bikes street legal, or does it even matter?

i was searching the forum about motorcycles and i noticed some people wishing they had brought thier dirt bikes. Well i was thinkg about bringing a small one. it would go well with the bad roads, it would fit in my apartment, and it goes 350 miles on 3 gallons, and its so light it wouldnt be much to ship. my question is, can i legally ride it on the road there? it has lights, but I can modify the rest to be street legal (turn signals, etc). or is bieng street legal even an issue over there? Thanks for yalls help.

P.S. ive read all the pros and cons about riding on the island

ive seen quads, dirt bikes, scooters, buggys, you name it on the road here. i dont know whether its legal or not but many people on the island take just about anything on the road.

I am pretty sure it is OK to ride but almost certain that it is not safe here especially the incredibly narrow road with crazy traffics! If you fall, there is no room to maneuver to ovoid potentially lethal collisions by cars .....Why do I say this? myself still wear a cast on broken finger over bike accident near school..

I have not seen any traffic cops issueing speeding ticket and there are almost no traffic lights but everone is driving by "instincts"

there are laws here but people are stupid enough to get dumb behing the wheel of a car... and sadly, its common for those people to be students... students would never consider driving without a seatbelt on or even worse, would never drink and drive back in the states... but here.... they just forget that the E.R. here might not be the best in the world....

if you do bring it down....bring a really good helment.....there are some really bad drivers here and some are students...

As will I. I'm sorry... especially to Gina who said she'll never sit in my car ever again.

You can drive anything until the cops stop you, as can be seen by many a local kid. But blinkers and a break light should be good enough for 2 - or 4 stroke. I'm bringing one down after christmas.

I live on one of the worst roads on the rock.
