When will the SGA website be updated? Also, I heard at some point it was going to be re-vamped like the main AUC site...how is that coming along?

In all honesty, I updated it at the end of July and was awaiting the launch of the new www.aucmed.edu website which launched at the end of October instead of the end of September. MEIO is now working on updating the SGA website as they have completed the AUC website. Needless to say, I must apologize for the lack of effort made to maintain the current site. If you need updates on anything in particular, you can check the SGA Bulletin Board near Note Services. Otherwise, I will ensure that the previous meeting minutes will be posted on the new SGA website which will hopefully be up and running in the near future.

Its a shame that you haven't updated the website since July, even if you expected AUC to take over control. SGA worked so hard to develope the site and keep it current, now you will have to reconvience people that they should use the site again- if ever it gets updated by the school. Right now the only thing that is current on the site is the mail-list, seems pretty expensive for SGA to host a site just for a mail list. The site should not of been neglected like it was, it hasn't been updated at all this semester!

I am sorry, but where in my statement did you find that I expected AUC to "take over control"? If you are overly concerned, please speak with me directly as I would welcome your constructive criticism...you know who I am and I am not hard to find.Originally Posted by neptunemann

Since you seem to know the intricacies of SGA and are so openly vocal, how about putting your money where your mouth is and volunteering to update and maintain the SGA website? I've asked the class reps to announce that to all of the classes, but I am nominating you since you have taken a vested interest in it. I'll be awaiting a response from you in the near future. It's really easy to criticize behind a shroud of anonymity, isn't it?Originally Posted by neptunemann

Jon, are you the only one working on the website?? Shouldn't there be people for that? You're the president, does that mean you do everything? There's got to be internet buffs here, I mean there are 500 of us on campus!! How many people are in SGA? It seems that there are not enough. It also seems that many people here don't do much around the school, that includes me. But I was under the impression that SGA didn't need any more members. I don't know, but it seems like the AUC student body needs more involvement. I think SGA has a challenge to get people more involved. I don't blame anyone for any shortcomings that are showing, but if they are not addressed and fixed, it will just comfirm the Caribbean school critics that we are just second rate. I think it is time to stop attacking the people that highlilght the shortcomings and start attacking the problem. Lets not point fingers when there is a problem, lets just fix it.

BTW, maintaining a website takes alot of work... much more work than most med students are willing to invest(myself included). We are here to become doctors, not webmasters/IT professionals(which there were quite a few of in the 4th semester class as probably is the case for the other semesters). While I agree that we should all be willing to fork out some time for the school, I doubt many would want that kind of responsbility(Jon excluded).
Why not give the space to students as blog servers or even a forum like how SGU does it? I heard we have tons of space on that thing. Management of that site would be easy and not time consuming for any one individual. Just give each group(SGA, Phi-Chi, Clinical Research Society, etc) a forum of their own.
Finally beat Super Mario Bros within 7 mins.
Heh...I think that is a suggestion that the web designers at MEIO are working towards, so that all student groups can have access and maintain their own space. It is just a matter of time...Originally Posted by microphage
Flash, I agree wholeheartedly with everything that you said. It is a juggling act, but as a student first, I know where my priorities are. Like I have stated before, I am not above constructive criticism, but if you point out a potential problem, the least I ask is that you have a solution for it.
As for student volunteers to maintain the website...my offer still stands to neptunemann...how about it?
