2012 Match Thread

I know there's at least a handful of us on here who are going through this year's match cycle. Since ECFMG tokens just became available today, I figured now was as good a time as any to start a discussion thread for it.

General things that come to mind...

Token- available now [log into OASIS -> on the left it says ERAS support services... costs $90]
ERAS opens- July 1
1st day to submit applications- Sept 1

CK Score delay... Anyone taking CK "on or around" August 3rd and later won't get their score until Sept 28. USMLE® : General Information [Has anyone talked to someone in the know i.e. a PD or chair about the significance of this?]


So what's everyone applying for this year?

Just got a 290/100 on All 3 steps

I'm wondering, are 3 LoR's sufficient (2 from within intended specialty, 1 from outside) or should I shoot for 4?

I probably have a couple of others whom I could ask for one, but timeliness is a fear-inducing issue at this point...

Shoot for 5+ so you can have a little flexibility.

For instance if you know the letter writer did his residency at the same program you are applying to... use his letter or if you are a super stalker you find out your letter writer went to the same med school as the PD of the program you are applying to you could use one of those letters.

I have 5 and will use 3 specialty specific and 1 outside

You also forgot to mention that you had to wing those exams with little or no studying.
