Hi,
I was wondering is anyone knows is it is possible to graduate from AUC and do a US residency and then get licensed to practice in St. Maarten?
Thank you for your input.

I remember reading a post by Trmedic answering the question awhile back. I think that you can with a 1 year internship sponsored by a Sint Marteen doctor. Don't quote me on that, but I think that is what he wrote.

Yes, this question has been answered by tRmedic a while back.
But back to the real question: Why???
I thought that some state medical licensing laws require the foreign grads to be eligible for licensure in the location in which the school is chartered in order to be eligible for licensure in some American states.
You ask why someone would want to practice in St Maarten...Well, I personally would not mind doing so there, or in any other caribbean country. I guess it's because I myself am caribbean and I miss it.The USA is a nice place and all, but no place like home.
The only concern I'd have is whether I'd earn enough money as a physician in the caribbean, or if I'd earn much more in the usa...
Umm.... you do realize you'd make an astronomical amount of money compared to living the caribbean.. but on the bright side of life, you can skip out on your student loans but don't dare think you can return for there would be litigation against you waiting!Originally Posted by claudette737
I don't know the island in particular ...but SGU does offer rotations in the Carribbean counting for clinical credits. As a doc though, I think one of our tutors said you make 2-3000 EC per month...like 1200 US. I don't know about AUC...but that probably wouldn't cover loans..
