Thread: Just got accepted for January WOO!!

Hey everyone I just got accepted for the Jan 2011 class. I am so pumped! Curious I know I'm gonna need a computer when I'm down there. Any recommendations? I'm torn b/w getting a PC (HP or Dell) or macbook. Also does anyone just use an iPad? Thanks everyone I am super pumped.

According to AUC's website Apple, HP, and Dell have certified service technicians on the island. How reliable they are is another issue, but atleast you could rely on the product warranty with those technicians.
I would go with an Apple if I were you. The last Dell I had literally exploded, and the last HP I had was littered with hardware problems. My two cents.

For those of you who were unable to acquire housing on the dorms, or would simply just prefer something much nicer for the same relative cost...

I am looking for a roommate for my fully furnished apartment at Aqua Marina, which is just on the other side of the bay from campus. Here are the stats at $1300/mth:

1. Has a generator = has power 24/7
   
   • which is huge... ask some of my fellow classmates who have had no power or a/c at times for 3-4days+
   
   
2. 2 bdrm, 2 bath condo ~1000sqft
3. 3 plasma tvs (HBO, Cinemax, etc included)
   
   • each room has its own plasma & a/c unit
   
   
4. Desk, light, study chair in each room
5. Internet already set up
6. washer & dryer in unit
7. 24 hour gated security
8. private gym/sauna/etc. in complex
9. private large infinity pool shared by complex
10. private patio and deck off unit
11. Free water taxi service
    
    • basically he will take you anywhere you wanna go in a boat and come pick you up.
    
    
12. Queen sized beds

NOTE:
While this place is not really walking distance to campus, it is fairly close on a bike. I drive into school everyday so car pooling is not a problem... additionally there are several other AUC students in the complex that head into class every day in the morning.
