    Spending Money?

Where do you get spending money? So you can't work in st. maarten legally nor do you have the time...so I've heard.I want to take out a private "direct-to-student" loan (i.e, sallimae, wellsfargo, etc..) but it seems that the school has to be "associated" with these private lender which it is not. Ross, and not SGU, is suprisingly the only carribean med school on their "lists".Soooo whats the deal? Is there really no alternative options to having a trust fund from mom and dad?

    O_o

After tuition and fees is deducted from your stafford+gradplus loans you should still get back about $14,000 for 1 semester.

That is more than enough to pay living expenses and have quite a bit left over as "spending money."

You can borrow a maximum of 60k for every 2 semesters which is more than enough to have spending money left over if you're coming alone. Not sure how much students with families took out, but for me living by myself, I usually take out about 42k every 2 semesters and still have about 2-4k left over per semester.

Came with the wife and the US Taxpayer covered more than enough of my living expenses + "spending money".
