    Bad Gas!

Just a heads up to everyone that fills up their vehicles at the cadesco gas stations (where 1$ = 1 Euro) on the french side... The gas is very bad. They claim it is unleaded, but it is not filtered very well and probably still contains lead. It looks pink, almost like diesel fuel. The reason I share this is because I have been filling my vehicle there for months now, and I just recently had to replace my catalytic converter, both O2 sensors, get my fuel injectors all cleaned, plus it probably needs a new fuel pump and filter because of it too. Avoid at all costs if you want to save yourself many headaches in the future! The few dollars you save short term is not worth it...Hope this helps everyone.

If it is pink... I'd say it probably is diesel fuel.. or regular fuel that they mix with ag diesel (because it is cheaper)

Tetraethyl lead used to be added to gasoline to help control preignition and detonation, and also it lubricated things like valve seats and protected them from erosion. It's added at the factory and goes into solution. So there's no such thing as "filtering" lead out. Besides, they wouldn't bring leaded fuel to just one gas station on the island -- no demand. That is not to say that the gas is not contaminated, it may very well be, but not with lead. As far as changing catalytic converters and such, looks like someone was taken for a ride. Poisoned catalytic converter would not affect the performance of the car in any way, just make it pollute more. But you wouldn't notice it without an emission test...

that makes me think twice about purchasing a vehicle. I like bikes, but that can be tough on the island.
