    Texting Cells from the Computer

I recall reading about this once before but couldn't find it on a search.

How can you text to a cell phone in the States with your computer? I googled it and found a couple that don't work very well. I guess that par for the course down here though. Any suggestions or sites? Thanks a bunch.

i know you can text verizon phones from their website free of charge. I dont know if other phone companies offer this same service. I think they should if verizon offers it.

    Txt

Easiest is through YAHOO MESSENGER. And you can have it as an app on iPhone (might work for other smartphones too, i am not sure)..

But the people you want to txt must be ur friends on yahoo messenger. Just like AIM, much lesser traffic.. And by the way, they can REPLY to your messages too..

    Cheers !!

You can use gmail to send and receive texts for free

just type in the number into the gtalk list on the side. when your friend replies to that text it'll show up as if you are getting a gtalk message

alternatively do you have google voice? you can get a free online number that can send/recieve texts via the internet (amongst other things)

I was gonna mention going to the carrier's site, but it seems like there are many other options too.

Those on an iPod Touch or iPhone can download the Textfree app. The free version allows you to send 15 msg/day to any US number. You can also receive messages.
