Good Earbud Headphone Recommendations

I see that we have a fair amount of techno-/audiophiles here on campus and I wanted to pick your brain. I'd like to buy a decent pair of earbud headphones when I go back and wanted to get some recommendations. I prefer this style since they are easier to toss in your bag.

I'm looking for something under $50 with good sound quality. I would prefer a shallow fit, so it doesn't sit on my tympanic membrane. I don't need audio controls on the wire either. I'm somewhat indifferent on color so long they aren't fluorescent.

So, with that in mind, anything I should look at in particular?

the answer to your prayers are easily found at the apple store. they are the original apple earbuds .

in reality, i gave up on earbuds cause i keep breaking them. i had two pairs of skullcandy full metal jackets, with 11mm drivers. i was over the moon about the quality of sound and fit/finish. too bad they died around at around 2 months of use each time. i switched to a full over ear headphone, per the recommendations of some of the guys in my class, who are bound to chime in soon.

im very happy.

Sony MDR-V6

turn up the volume, and enjoy.

Sennheiser

Sennheiser earphones are good. I had a precision II from them, and those were excellent.

Did an amazon search, and they have a CX-400 T MK II for about 65-70 dollars..

What do you like? Are you a big fan of bass? A huge mistake of mine was buying a pair of Etymotic Er-6i headphones for 70 dollars. There was no bass. At all. Afterward, I found my creative ep-630 that came with my dell sounded pretty good, but they fell apart. After that I had a pair of JVC HA-FX34S (walmart $20) that sound pretty good, especially when I want some bass. I also have 2 pair of Shure I2C-M headphones that I almost always have on me, because I can use the inbuilt mic with skype on my ipod touch, and the sound is pretty good. Any of the above you should be able to find for <$30 (with the exception of the ER6i)

The biggest tragedy is you can't "testdrive" much on the island. As such, I'd go with something cheap like the JVCs until you can get home to more selection and you can audition different models at Best Buy or something.

In my experience, the build quality on Sennheiser headphones is lacking, but the sound quality is outstanding. I've never used a pair of their earbuds though...

tegra - my roommate owns a pair of larger dj-style sennheisers, you should ask him to check 'em out

That's for all the info. I'm looking them up.

I have a pair of sennheisers on me right now. Come during break and listen to them. They're big and ugly but im really happy with the sound quality and for 80 bucks you can't ask for more.
