I cant believe this.... since my last post back a week or two weeks ago i mentioned the fact that i had not recieved a reply from MEIO about my application that i had sent in around March10. Replies from some of the senior members recommended that i call up MEIO until i hear from them. Guess what?
I finally got through to a 'live' person at MEIO over the phone today, and his name was Travis, he tells me that MEIO did recieve my application, yet they have not recieved my 2 LOR nor have they recieved my transcripts. Impossible! I sent my transcripts in the same envelope as the application. How can you lose one thing and not the other. Obviously Travis did not know how i had sent these things as he was just telling me what he saw. But when i told Travis that i sent these things together, he was speechless. Then he says," probably they have misplaced it...let me check... ahh no we dont have them can you send them again?"
Whats going on people, am i even going to be considered for the Sept 03 class or not. I am afraid that the class might already full to capacity. Is this true?

Sorry about being so ticked...this is my career and i dont like when other people are just fooling around with it. Maybe its not important to them, but it is to me, but are they not getting paid to do their jobs?Then do it right!

Sorry about all the frustrations as I do remember your earlier post. I have read the possible horror stories that could occur w/ MEIO and their tendicies to be a little unorganized....kindly put.

However, I thought the transcripts had to be sent from the school? Maybe I'm wrong on this one, as my hubby will be sending in his application later this month or so. Good luck and I hope it works out! You can always overnight the info if it can be sent directly from you.

On the bright side, at least MEIO is not in charge of recording grades! My lovely (sarcasm...) alma mater (UofIL) would constantly have incorrect grades recorded...you could only imagine the mess of trying to convince them they are wrong and to hunt down the professor to confirm that they were indeed wrong. This happened to many people I know, both myself and my hubby as well! Luckily for me (sarcasm...) my professor had left on vacation for 1 month so we had to wait to correct my incorrect grade from the D that was recorded to the actual B that I was given!

I am sorry to hear that MEIO has "mishandled" your application. Personally, I had a fairly decent and timely experience with them, however, I don't know if I am the exception or the rule. I don't know anything about whether or not the September 2003 class is filled to capacity or not, but just keep on them. I hope it will work out and see you in September...

I believe you need OFFICIAL transcripts, which means that you cannot send them, they have to come directly from the school you attended. They may have just thrown them out instead of letting you know that. Who knows. G

If you send your transcripts with your app, they will just end up in the trash, and they will never appear in your file.

The transcripts will not be accepted if they are not direct from your school. This is clearly stated in the admissions policy. There is no way around it. I even sent them a transcript that was sealed from my school, but it wasn't good enough. You must get your school to send them.

On another note, yes, MEIO is notorious for 'losing' documents or temporarily misplacing them, and their party line is "We never rec'd them." Get used to it, deal with it, overcome it. If you really want to be in med school, you need to be prepared to resubmit. This seems like the world, I know, but you have PLENTY of time between now and the next semester, so just get out and get it done. As I have said before, keep copies of everything you send them, and send it ALL registered mail or something where you can track it. You can even require a signature, that would be even better. Delivery confirmation, etc. I know it costs a few extra bucks, and you have to go to the P.O. or somewhere else, but think about what is at stake in the long run. I have been in your situation, and I know what you mean. I was pissed, I was frustrated, and I seriously doubted whether a school with an office like MEIO could be any good, but it is a hurdle than CAN be overcome, and is DEFINATELY worth the effort of overcoming.

MEIO in my opinion is a true disgrace to AUC. It makes AUC look bad to have an administration office that is less than half-functional. I have heard many horror stories about them losing documents and if you think this is bad enough just wait until you start applying for your loans. The best thing to do is send everything by a trackable method, so they can't blame you when something goes wrong. And of course try to everything ahead of time.

I want to agree with the way meio handles everything
I applied for the may class got the run around with my application. I was told that my letters of rec were not on official letter head by my prof which they were . They lost my transcripts sent directly by the schools and my app which was sent certified return recipt. Then i was supposed to hear back promptly bec i put my app in march was finally completed for may and they never sent my response out when i called a week and a half before classes started. All ***** tells me is that "oh i am sorry this is an oversight in our part your letter is still in your file." i accpeted another seat in the mean time and still have never officially heard back from auc. I now would like a refund on my application fee bec i am attending another school in sept and not auc bec they could not get their act togther the first time and i feel that i made the right decision and stand by it. Good luck to all who are there and attending i hope you all do well there. If someone can pm and suggest how i go about to get my app refund considering i applied for may and still never officially heard i would appreciate it

I am sorry that you had such a bad experience with MEIO I am one of the few, I think, that has had good experiences with them so far. When I emailed admissions I received a prompt response the very next day and when I sent my application in, I heard back within two weeks. I am not sure how to get your application refund back but good luck because I am sure they want to keep their money!

This has been a consistent source of embarrassment for them from even back in the ol' network54 days. In fact, that had to be the most active topic -- MEIO lost _____(fill in the blank). I can't believe that they haven't replaced the people that "work" there.
