Thread: Just winging it?

Ok, I've searched, but couldn't find an answer. I don't have enough dinero to reserve off campus housing (first+last+deposit) before I come. The question is this: Did some of you go down with just enough money to get by on until the refund checks were disbursed? I will be living off campus because my wife and baby boy will be following me down in October.

im sure its been done, just make sure to plan for the unexpected

Anyone else have anything a little more insightful from personal experience?

I actually don't know anyone, nor have I ever heard of anyone who came down with no place lined up to stay and no cash. If you have a credit card, or some savings at all, I would recommend getting a room somewhere close by, i.e. the Summit Hotel, or similar.

Your loan check will be waiting for you at registration. You can overnight that to the states that day, so within 4-7 days you should have money to use for a place. Also, talk to the school, they may be able to help you out with something.

If you know anyone here, see if they would let you stay with them until you could secure housing. Other than that I don't really see much of an option other than staying in a hotel.

Positive rep for this. BTW, I will be bringing about $1000 to get by on until the refund checks are refunded

I believe that the school can give you a small loan to get by until the loan check clears if you need it.
