    $$$

Hey guys, i was just running some numbers on the cost of attendance and this is starting to look SCARY!

    can someone confirm this please:

    AUC tuition for 1 year: 16,500 x 3 = 50,000
    avg rent + utilities: 14,000 x 12 = 16,800
    Food + Misc expenses: 600 x 12 = 6,000
    -----------
Brings us to a grand total of : 72,800 per year!

So if Fafsa gives us a total of 21k per year that means 51,800 $ in private loans???!!

3 semesters is about 90k plus interest

If you take full loans its 30k a semester of which about 13-17 (depending on dorms) is taken out for the school. And the rest is given back to you

I believe you get 20k per 2 semesters subsidized (interest free until you finish) and the other 40k is unsubsidized

Someone correct me on the last part

    Talking

    Sounds about right....

I'd post a pic of taking it up where it doesn't smell like roses but that'd be against the TOS.

Well, not that it's a big deal but technically each year has ~2.5 semesters. Sure you have 3 semesters in one calendar year during basic sciences but over all AUC has 9.5 semesters over the course of 4 years. So it really comes down to about 60-62k per year. Still costs an arm and a leg.

Sounds about right. Don't forget about the tuition increases every two semesters.

Well, dont forget the loan origination fees -- that's a couple of thousand a year that gets taken right out of your loan but you pay interest on... and then there's the interest... compounded... so... even scarier than you think.

Considering you haven't started yet, it is the perfect time to do that. But really, this has to be a calling, especially to come to the Caribbean at such expense.

Just some further clarification: it can be all federal loans... the remainder is fulfilled by the Grad Plus loan... and indeed, it's unsubsidized.
