That would never happen, due to the fact that the school is a "FOR PROFIT" organization.

Well, I would have liked to go to a US med school, but that didn't happen. As soon as you all learn to quit crying about things you can't control, the better off your lives will be. The fact is, we don't matter. You don't matter. You can take it like a man, or you can quit. And if you quit, you're very replaceable. So no one cares. We all came here as a second chance, and it was a choice, not a mandatory thing. So pick your battles. This isn't one you will ever win. The school is making a load of money off us, yes-- but they are giving me the opportunity to become a physician. If you really feel so strongly about this, quit whining about it online and go talk to the faculty and the administration to get your complaints aired.

To quote a fine NCO I served with, "You win some, you lose a lot. Life sucks, so you better get a helmet."

i beg to differ...if there is any battle to pick, this is the one...

you're still on island so you feel that AUC is doing ll it can to give you the opportunity to become a physician, but realize CLINICALS is what gets you finished...don't have enough clinicals, esp ACGME clinicals and you will be screwed....you need to be able to do 3rd year cores during...THIRD year, you need to be able to do clinicals with the least amount of enforced breaks (ie YOU choose when to break, not have them forced upon you), otherwise you may not make a match on time, or may risk your future career by not being able to be licenced in the state of your choice...

yes AUC is smaller than Ross, but they need to learn from the mistakes Ross made in not thinking ahead...its fine and dandy to increase class size and increase tuition (you're right those ARE battles you will not win), but the school needs to make sure that they have the clinical rotations for all the students they have...and not just any old rotations...green ones as well as enough cores that students are not doing peds as their last rotation as a med student...3rd year cores are 3rd year cores for a reason...

clinicals may not run the smoothest at sgu, but you never hear of a student not being able to do 3rd yr cores back to back, there is never an issue of non green cores, people are not bumped from rotations to allow those who are closer to graduation to get their core requirements done, and no one's graduation is held up because the school didn't give them their rotations in a timely manner...if sgu did buy up flushing (and like KG said, i haven't heard that they have or have not) its because sgu is ensuring that students have those rotations available.

You misunderstand, or maybe I wasn't clear enough. Yes, clinicals, by all means, is a battle we need to fight. You are exactly right, the clinical situation is where we should focus our attention.
However, what most seem to complain about is the tuition hike. No onme is going to get an itemized list of where our money is going, and tuition hikes aren't going to cease. That can't be fixed.

Oh, and I don't feel that they are doing ALL they can. But they are at least giving me the shot to try. However, if i get to 3yrd year and can't rotate, you can bet I won't be on here crying and whining about it, I will be out there actually doing something about it.

For all the complaining people do, this is HIGHLY unlikely. Still have yet to hear of a single person that had to push back their graduation just because of AUC screw ups.

i wasn't saying that AUC has had that issue...but you did hear it from Ross students a couple of years ago...

and you would be surprised at what "whining and crying" here can do...do remember that the schools' admins do check out these fora (some even post here!) and they know that while unoffical, is a source of info that prospective students use...and they are the ykey...you? your money is theirs, they know that...its those out there deciding between AUC, Ross, Saba, and SGU...the schools don't like any type of bad publicity...

sorry i misread your post...i agree that tuition and to some extent accountability of where that money is going isn't something that students can worry about it...you are paying for that opportunity...no more, no less...you pay what they aksk and they will ask what the market will bear...
