Only time will tell
I said Rocky Vista was whack. But as this clinical situation worsens and the tuition keeps increasing, AUC may join the whackness of Rocky Vista as well

So today, NC at MEAS was unreachable (no surprise). I contacted CJ from FHMC. It sounds like as of now, AUC has only lost surgery spots. I am not sure if it's a permanent loss for AUC, or just a loss of a certain block of time. It was not explicitly explained to me, but apparently SGU can buy blocks of certain rotations. I guess they choose that December block(12/7/10-1/15/10). Since AUC is sending all of our money to CO, they put up no fight to try to keep those spots (it would affect the bottom line of a for-profit school). I am hoping this is just for surgery, but if anyone from different rotations (or different rotation dates) got a similar email, please post. Also, if anyone was able to contact MEAS or NC and get some better info, hook a brother up. I think most people scheduled for Caritas ended up @ Flushing when Caritas closed. If we lose Flushing, clinicals are going to be even more of a nightmare.
I don't think that SGU bought the Flushing spots. SGU still has more spots than they can use after the HHC contract. Maybe Ross bought the December block. SGU would not have just bought a block of spots, as we have seen, they buy all the spots exclusively.

I talk to a lot of black people at Ross who are in the know. Last I heard they are still not associated with Flushing. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that AUCer's got screwed on this deal. The school went from paying >$1/spot to paying $0/spot. Where does that tuition increase of $1000/person go to? Colorado.

more spots than we can use?? with class sizes getting close to 500 twice a year and the UK being pretty much shut down for everyone except UK citizens (which make up a very small percentage of our school)? yeah, I don't think so. You should read the HHC contract closer with SGU, it actually states that we haven't secured all those spots, it just states that if those hospitals not already accepting FMG students for clinicals ever decide to accept them in the future, that SGU is the first and only school they will take. A lot of those hospitals aren't available to us as regular rotations. Flushing is a main hospital for us and I wouldn't be surprised if SGU makes a move on it, sorry to say for your school but, like I told BiologyBY before, I haven't heard anything about it on the SGU end, if I do, I'll post something.

It just seems strange that if SGU or Ross did not buy out the Flushing spots, why did AUC lose the spots?

You are right, the fact still remains that AUC has lost clinical spots.

I realize that all the hospitals are not available yet. As I understand it, as they are needed they will be used. Still, no SGU student has to wait for a (green) rotation.

I, also have not heard that SGU has bought out the spots from AUC.

I'm glad you don't think so. But the fact is it is so.

i do know for a fact that the sga president did meet with auc head honchos to get the info of where our tuition increase money is going and they said that they guaranteed that our money would not be going colorado. in terms of flushing, maybe this is being dropped in favor of the nassau spots being opened up? also on the rumor mill is that there are 2 or 3 spots opening up for us in california by 2011

You're so gullible McFly. I could say that I am the greatest competitive food eater of all time and you would you probably believe me. Like it or not, our tuition is being funneled to CO... or did the SGA president get an itemized list of what the tuition is going to be spent on? As far as spots being opened at NUMC, you shouldn't spread lies. There has been no talk about this as of yet (I would be one of the first to know). Yes, we're in talks with 2 Kaisers in CA. Why am up at 5AM? I'm cooking a whole hog low and slow. It take longer and is more expensive than fried chicken, but every now and then I love me some pork. Mmmmmm.

woulda have loved to see an itemized list of what our tuition increase is going to but we all know that wont happen....SGA and a few students met with Dr. K and he gave them the same old same old....while they "graciously" thanked him for his precious time to meet with them....make me puke gimme a break.
