    carib. school comparison

Hey everyone, I am a premed and im looking for a little help...

I have just started to hear back from medical schools, I have been accepted to 3 US schools so far, but I really want to go to a carib. school. I have been accepted to Ross, Saba. and AUC.

Does anyone have any legitimate reasons to pick one of these caribbean schools over another?

please dont just say to go to the US schools i have heard that enough

    thank for the help

are these US schools osteopathic schools? if so, then that makes more sense. If they are MD schools, then there is something wrong with you

I think all of us are shell-shocked that you'd rather go to the Caribbean over the US. Might I ask your reasons?

Going to medical school in the Caribbean can be exciting and fun, with beaches and topless bathing and all that. But it makes the journey to becoming a doctor harder, and in some circles, you will be stigmatized. I know two students at AUC who were accepted to US schools and chose AUC, for a variety of very good reasons that had nothing to do with "wanting to go to a carib school."

I have to say that wanting something isn't good enough. If you are not clear-headed enough to look at all your options, all the pros and cons thereof, and make a decision based on pure self-interest, you may not be ruthless enough, or pig-headed enough to make it in med school.
    Suffering is optional.

When I went to AUC there was a Harvard grad in my class that could have gone to just about any US med school he wanted. He chose the Caribbean for the adventure.

I am aware of two practicing physicians (AUC grads) in the US that advised their sons to apply to AUC first and foremost.

I applied to only one US school and was wait listed. I went to AUC.

My father and my brother are both foreign born FMGs. I am a US born FMG.

Although many will fail to understand why anyone would consider going to a Caribbean school when they could go to a US school, one must try to understand that not everybody has the same perspective on it.

Yes there are disadvantages. There are also some advantages. The key is understanding exactly what those are and cutting through all the ** rumors etc.

What exactly would you say these advantages are?
