    A WARNING (about Arthur)

I have been asked to write this message as a warning to all students and prospective students. I just finished my 5th semester at AUC and it was a wonderful experience.
During my time on the island, I was leasing a car from Arthur with two other friends. Out of the three of us, I was the last one left on the island. Being the girl of the group, my two friends made sure everything was taken care of with the car and that all I had to do was drop it off at the airport.
On my last day, I was checking out of my building unit and was in the building office collecting my deposit. At this point, Arthur came into the office (which is in no way affiliated with him) and started arguing with me. At the same time, my deposit was being counted and laid down on the desk. Arthur physically shoved me to the side, trying to get to the money and the keys lying on the desk. Thankfully, my sister was there and between the two of us, we were able to grab both before him. At this point, we both ran out of the office to my car. I then realized that Arthur had blocked in my car with his car and had three other men with him. For approximately 5 minutes, I was screaming, crying, fighting off and pleading with four men to leave us alone. Arthur demanded 150 dollars, forcibly took it and then left.
I can't say for sure but I believe I was set up by my building management as well. It seemed to be good timing for Arthur to show up at the office, while I was getting my deposit. But, I can't say that for sure.
So please, do not deal with Arthur. This had to have been one of the worst experiences of my life.
The school dealt with the situation wonderfully. They made sure we were safe, took down a report and are dealing with Arthur. I was asked to put this warning on ValueMD just in case anyone is recommended Arthur before orientation where a warning will be issued.
My experience at St Martin and AUC has been unbelieveable. Apart from this one experience, the last 20 months have been incredible. I would not have traded this in for anything.

The man is hustler and like my man Jay said you can't knock the hustle.

I dealt with him from semester 1 to 5 and I never had an issue with him. He gave me a brand new car during semester 5 and allowed 5 people to share the lease. Those same 5 people never had a single issue with him either so quit acting like Nicky Barnes from American Gangsta...You had to have done something to piss him off for him to come after you like that.

    Remember Snitches get Stiches...
The island is filled with criminals who love to prey on med students and anyone vulnerable. The fact that there is almost no police presence doesnt help either. Its sad really because it can be such a great island. PPGMD, Arthur may have been great to you and others but it doesnt excuse the fact that hes a monster to many others. He has no right to threaten, harass and steal from anyone. "Snitches get stiches" seriously? Are you 15? That is exactly the kind of mentality that makes "hustlers" stay "hustlers" until they end up killed over something probably not worth it.

Reggie I'm sorry you had to go through that. I know from experience how much it can ruin your perception of the island and effect your feelings of safety. Hopefully the school starts making a better effort to protect its students, but knowing the way AUC is run I somehow doubt that. Personally I think carrying pepper spray, a crowbar or a machete in your car is probably a good idea.

    Just curious here.

What would happen if someone like Arthur rolls up on you and you get into a physical altercation.

Would you possibly get kicked out of school even if it is justified like self defense?

Not sure how laws work down on the Islands...

I think you'd be in very dangerous territory. Although Arthur is a very questionable person and you probably should steer clear of him, I have never heard of him actually getting physically violent and requiring people to act in self defense. However, if you do get into a physical altercation, I don't think you could get kicked out for self defense. Fortunately, I don't think that anyone has had to resort to that since I've been here.

wss good slevit.. hows that camera treating you?

just heard about this thru the grapevine..
sorry to hear reg... guess you had no reason to mention it..

i know it's gotten pretty close to a physical altercation before.
i hear he got into it one night with some asian kid september 2007..
in front of the guard gate..
screaming at the kid.. slowly approaching him in a pugnacious manner.
good thing the asian kid had some sense tho..
beating arthur probably wouldn't have been the most prudent thing to do.

Let's just hope this guy pisses off one of his "buddies" and gets murdered. The island and the world would be much better off I'm sure.

haha, thats a little close to what happened. My girlfriend (the asian in this story) needed to go home to get something. I was busy and my friend offered to drive her home. Me and my girlfriend are both on the lease for Arthur. What I DIDN'T know was that my friend had had a bad experience with Arthur and yelling took place and he got his money back and they were all pissed. So when Arthur saw him driving my car, he blocked him in and was yelling franticly at him for driving his car as was my friend yelling back. My girlfriend called me and I came out and calmed everyone down (after 45 minutes of getting yelled at).
Now that said I have had nothing but good experiences with him (other than that one). If you already have rented from him don't freak out. You may have to swallow your pride a few times and listen to his stories, but thats why you're paying less. I'm not going to encourage anyone to rent from him though as apparently some others have had bad experiences, this is just so people who already have rented from him don't worry too much. Just do what he says (meaning don't crash it and give it back to him over breaks) and you'll probably be fine.
